Thank you from Westminster Presbyterian
The Presbyterian Women and all of Westminster Presbyterian Church want to say thank you to the large number of individuals and families in the South Hills communities who support our twice-a-year Rummage-Recycling Sales. Hundreds of people donate clothes and all types of household items they no longer need or want, and even hundreds more come to shop. We are extremely grateful to all of these people.
The recent April sale took in $11,300 and last November’s sale took in over $14,000, a total of over $25,000 that will be donated primarily to local organizations such as SHIM, The Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, three South Hills Meals-On-Wheels projects, Washington City Mission, two local women’s shelters, “Stop Hunger Now,” the Bidwell Training Center and Global Links. Money also goes to support international mission projects. Goods are also donated to local homeless shelters, projects for infants and children and Family Promise (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network). All unsold electronics and metal items are recycled through Construction Junction and everything else that isn’t sold is collected by Washington City Mission to give to their clients or to sell in their Thrift Shops. What they have left over is shipped to third world countries.
These sales are clearly an extensive endeavor supported by all the South Hills communities and from which everyone benefits. Thanks to all who join in.
