In November and December, all hardback books are 10 percent off and all cookbooks are 50 percent off at the Friends of the Bridgeville Public Library Used Book Store, 523 Washington Ave. For information, call 412-257-3233. The next Fill a Bag of Books sale at the store is Nov. 6-8.

Cecil Township Supervisors will hold a Town/Outreach Meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in the meeting room of the municipal building, on Millers Run Road. The supervisors will discuss issues important to the residents of the Cecil area, including Bishop, Venice, Montour, Southview, Gilmore, Gladden Heights, Jumbo and Turntable.

• The Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 20.

• Leaf pick up will be held through Nov. 15. Loose leaves must be raked to the curb. Bagged leaves must be in bio-degradable paper bags.

A holiday wreath making class will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Sycamore Room of the municipal center. The fee is $20 for residents ($30 non-residents) and includes a 24-inch fresh mix wreath with pine cones, ribbon, bows and decorative items. Participants can bring other decorative items and wire clippers if they have them.

Register at the administration office by Nov. 13.

The Center for Theater Arts will hold its 11th annual Fundraiser for Actors with Special Needs at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8. at St. Winifred Church, 550 Sleepy Hollow Road. The event is a prom for special needs children who typically don’t get to attend high school dances. Tickets are $20 and available at the front desk at the Center for Theater Arts, 250 Mt. The special actors program offers free musical theater classes to special needs students through funding by foundations and support from galas.

• The Book Cellar, the used book shop at the Mt. Lebanon Public Library will offer its entire inventory of holiday adult and children’s books, CDs and DVDs for sale. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 16 and 1:30-3:30 p.m. Nov. 17.

Volunteers at the store have been collecting holiday items and the two days will be the only occasion all the items will be displayed at one time.

The store is open year- round Monday through Saturday starting one hour after the library opens and one hour prior to closure.

The parks and recreation department is seeking a donated large live pine tree about 30- to 35-feet tall by Nov. 11. It will be used for the tree lighting ceremony and library’s children’s holiday party Dec. 1. Call 724-942-5000, or email recreationsecretary@peterstownship.com for details.

• Nancy Koch will speak at the Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters camera club meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Peters Township Public Library. The topic will be tabletop photography. For more information, call 724-747-1300.

• The 2014 budget will be available for review Nov. 19, with the adoption set for Dec. 16. Another budget hearing is tentatively set for Nov 18.

• Residents who plan on being away at least three months are eligible to have garbage service and bills suspended. To qualify, call 724-941-4180 and supply a name and address, the date service is to be suspended and the date service is to resume.

PPG Place is accepting entries for its gingerbread house display and competition. Houses are displayed Nov. 22-Jan. 7 at the PPG Place Wintergarden.

There are numerous openings on boards, including two full terms on the library board, two full terms on the zoning hearing board and one alternate full term, one full term on the municipal authority and three full terms on the board of standards.

• Arcadia Publishing’s Images of America will release “History of South Fayette Township” in the summer of 2014. Original photographs, maps or postcards before 1960 concerning the township are wanted for possible inclusion in the book. Information is needed about houses of worship, cemeteries, residences and people, businesses, mining, schools and recreation.

The South West Communities Chamber of Commerce’s holiday luncheon is Dec. 10 at the Club at Nevillewood in Collier Township.

A Veterans Day observance will take place at 10 a.m. in Monument Park. All those who have served in the military are invited to attend by the Veterans Park Committee, the township and the Upper St. Clair School District.

• E-cycling will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 9 in the township parking lot near Clair’s Kennel for any item with an electrical cord. Only one television per vehicle will be accepted. Another collection is scheduled Dec. 14.

• Bounty at Boyce Mayview Park Fall Fest will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 9 throughout the park including the Community and Recreation Center and The Outdoor Classroom. Food vendors will be available. Plunge the Pumpkin will be held in the indoor aquatics center. There will also be an apple sling shot station.
