This year, Mt. Lebanon High School celebrates the 30th year of the student exchange program with the Stifitisches Gymnasium, located in Düren, Germany.

Each year, the two schools exchange 15-20 students. Mt. Lebanon students travel to Germany in June and the Germans students visit Mt. Lebanon in October. It is a true exchange with the visiting students staying in the homes of the host students, attending school together, taking part in school events such as homecoming and sightseeing the host city.

The student exchange program has nurtured long lasting friendships between students and after 30 years with the same school, the faculties on both sides have become very close friends as well. The program has flourished over the years due to the support of the German teachers, the school district and the families of students in Düren and Mt. Lebanon.

“The 30th anniversary of our exchange program with the Stifitisches Gymnasium is a testimony to the commitment on both sides to carrying on this wonderful partnership,” said Christian Stein, Mt. Lebanon German teacher.
