Mini malls

Third-graders at Pleasant Valley marked the end of their economic unit with a visit to the building’s “mini malls.” Students crafted their own items, including stress balls, pet rocks, bracelets and bookmarks. They then priced them for the student market, made signs and created 30-second commercials to promote their wares. The students then had the opportunity to purchase items from their classmates in the classroom market. The students also had a special presentation from McDonald’s to learn more about the economics behind this popular fast food chain. Clockwise, from top, Abigail O’Korn and Ryan Pastor check out Mac Mattingly’s selection of pet rocks; Jesse Roberts is ready to sell his Pine Cone Christmas Trees. Also pictured are Emma Blair and Caden Bryan; Emma Blair gets her sign ready for her store.
