On Nov. 9, Father Leo Patalinghug, Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, celebrated chef, founder of Grace Before Meals and author of the cookbook “Spicing Up Married Life,” will offer two presentations on marriage and family life, a special “Spicing Up Married Life” cooking demonstration and Mass at St. Benedict the Abbot Catholic Church, McMurray; St. Louise DeMarillac Parish, Upper St. Clair; and St. Thomas More, Bethel Park.

The schedule for this event, sponsored by the Marriage Enrichment Ministry, follows:

• Spiritual Combat, 1 p.m. at St. Louise DeMarillac. An expert in martial arts, Fr. Leo will use his gifts to relate to teens and help them relate to God.

• Fr. Leo will co-celebrate Mass at St. Benedict. at 5 p.m. with Fr. Robert Miller.

• “Spicing up Married Life” presentation for adults, 6:30 p.m. at St. Benedict, followed by a cooking demonstration by Fr. Leo.

• Reception, 8-9 p.m., featuring wine, cheese and fresh fruit.

Admission for the Spiritual Combat presentation is free for registered teens. Tickets for the “Spicing Up Married Life” presentation are $40 per couple and $20 per person, which includes a copy of Fr. Leo’s book. St. Patrick Parish Youth Group, Canonsburg, will be selling their homemade hoagies after all weekend Masses on Nov. 16-17. Choose from Italian, turkey or roast beef hoagies for $6 each. Proceeds benefit youth ministry mission trips.

Chabad of the South Hills, Mt. Lebanon, will offer the following programs:

• “Life in the Balance: Jewish Perspectives on Everyday Medical Dilemmas,” a new course by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute, includes: Option 1, 7:30-9 p.m. six Wednesdays, through Dec. 4 at Crowne Plaza South, Bethel Park; Option 2, 10:15-11:30 a.m. six Sundays, beginning Nov. 10 at Chabad. Christian Mothers and Women’s Guild at St. Patrick Parish, Canonsburg, will meet in the cafeteria at 7 p.m. Nov. 6. Members of the guild who passed away this year will be remembered. Members will also play bingo.

Bob Tully will be the guest speaker at Beth Israel Congregation’s Shabbat services in Washington at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8. Tully will give a presentation on the “State of Judaism in Germany Today” as seen through his travels. Tully, the husband of Beth Israel Board of Directors member Beth Tully, is a pilot for USAirways.

St. Benedict the Abbot Church, McMurray, will hold Eucharistic Adoration 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Nov. 7.

St. Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church, Upper St. Clair, will host the Slavjane Folk Festival on Nov. 9.
