Renaissance & Baroque will collaborate with the American Musicological Society, on the occasion of their November conference in Pittsburgh, to produce a special non-subscription concert featuring Benjamin Bagby’s acclaimed medieval ensemble, Sequentia.

The ToonSeum, Pittsburgh, will celebrate the life and legacy of Filmation co-founder and producer Lou Scheimer. The public celebration memorial will take place 7-9 p.m. Nov. 9.

Schimer, born and raised in Pittsburgh, died Oct. 17. He produced animated television shows including “Fat Albert,” “He-Man and the Master of the Universe,” “The Archies,” “Star Trek: The Animated Series” and more.

The Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy will sponsor True Tales of Rail Trails, a free lecture program, at 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at Mt. Lebanon Public Library.

Rails to Trails is a project that turns abandoned railroad lines into biking/hiking trails.

Bill Metzger, author of “The Great Allegheny Passage Companion,” will share folksy tales about how Rails to Trails started and how it grew, and will feature many photos of the trails.

Lebo Light Night to kickoff the celebration of the holiday season will be held from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 14 on Washington Road. Featured will be horse-drawn sleigh rides and live entertainment, including the Southminster Bell Ringers and the Mt. Lebanon High School Band.

Entries are currently being accepted for the Gingerbread House Contest and Show at Lebo Light Night 2013. Submissions will be on display at the municipal building starting at 6 p.m. Nov. 14, and continuing until 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 16. Pianist and author Pat Jennings will return to the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall 7 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Reception Hall for readings from her new book “In One Era and Out the Other.”

Jennings will donate $1 from all in-person book purchases to the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, where she serves on its advisory board. Jennings will be doing a second reading on Nov. 17 at the Mendelson Gallery in Shadyside.

Jennings will follow her readings with questions and answers and book signings. A reception follows the free program, with music courtesy of Carnegie jazzmen Phil Salvato and Haywood Vincent.

Washington Community Theatre announces its fall production “Happy Holidaze,” a musical journey through the 12 months of the year, Nov. 15-17 at Julian’s Banquet Hall in Washington. To mark its 20th anniversary, the Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Shakespeare Nation competition wants to include past contest participants in a commemorative program book.

Producers Jude and Shirley Pohl announce the final show of the 2013 season at their Crowne Plaza Cabaret Dinner Theatre in Bethel Park.

“Over There … The G.I. Christmas Tour,” a tribute to Bob Hope’s holiday shows he took overseas to entertain the troops, will include songs from the World War II era. It will run at 8 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and 14 preceded by dinner at 6:30, along with two Sunday matinees beginning at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and 15 with dinner immediately following.

Price of the dinner-theatre package is $40 and includes both tax and tip.

Mt. Lebanon Recreation will offer a holiday bus trip Dec. 8 to Nemacolin Woodlands and Overly’s Country Christmas Light Display.

Festival of Lights will take place at 3 p.m. Dec. 6 on the adjoining campuses of La Roche College and the Sisters of Divine Providence in McCandless Township. Admission is free.

The event will include a craft show, tree lighting, live nativity, ice carving, carriage rides, Christmas karaoke, live performances and a fireworks display. Children’s activities include games, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus.

Attendees are asked to donated canned goods or other nonperishable food items to North Hills Community Outreach between 6-8 p.m. on the lawn of Bold Hall II. In return, donors will receive a 12-ounce cup of cocoa.
