St Clair Hospital Outpatient Center named for donors
The new St. Clair Outpatient Center in Peters Township was named the Michael and Dolores Kara Building in honor of the donors.
The Karas, of Southpointe, made one of the largest philanthropic gifts to St. Clair Hospital in support of the new center.
“After dedication, hard work, sacrifice, early investing and many blessings, we are pleased to share our success with St. Clair Hospital,” said Michael Kara. “Our experience with St. Clair has exceeded our expectations and has resulted in annual gift giving since 1999.”
The $20 million center that offers diagnostic and laboratory services opened June 3 along Washington Road, just south of Donaldsons Crossroads. The second floor of the 40,000-square-foot building houses physicians’ offices.
Diagnostic services include a wide-bore MRI, CT scanner, X-rays, digital mammography, obstetrical and diagnostic ultrasound, bone density testing and laboratory services including blood draws and specimen collection. Also offered are cardiodiagnostics including echocardiography, EKG and pre-operative testing.
There is also a Women’s Imaging Center.
Physician services at the center include primary care and obstetrics/gynecology, breast surgery, cardiology, colorectal surgery, ear/nose/throat, endocrinology, general surgery, orthopedics and plastic surgery.
“The Karas have been a great partner of St. Clair for more than a decade,” said Andrea Kalina, vice president of external affairs and chief human resources officer at the hospital.
“Naming this important new building after the Karas is tangible recognition of their long-standing commitment to the hospital and its mission to provide highly valued, service-oriented health care to the community now and for many years to come.”
