Lebanon Public Library’s used bookshop, The Book Cellar, is offering its entire inventory of holiday books, CDs and DVDs with a special sales event, Nov. 16-17. “The store’s regular sales area is limited and the regular collection is available to shoppers everyday, year round, but this special sale allows all the holiday music, books, movies, games, like new gift ideas, some holiday jewelry and much more on display at one time in a separate sales room,” said Jean Crawford, the store’s inventory coordinator.

Colorful cleats – donated and worn by many Pittsburgh Steelers – turned into artwork by local artists will be on display to kickoff the second Cleats for a Cure Nov. 18 at Engine House 25 and the Clemente Museum in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. The event, which features an auction of the cleats, tailgate cuisine and appearances by Ryan Clark and his teammates, aims to raise awareness and funds for Clark’s Cure League and the fight against sickle cell disease.

The Bible Chapel in McMurray, Mount Lebanon United Presbyterian Church and McDonald Presbyterian Church Calvary Center are drop sites for Operation Christmas Child’s Global Christmas Project. Shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement are shipped to needy kids around the world. Items will be collected Nov. 18-25.

The Arthritis Foundation’s Jungle Bell Run/Walk 5K takes place Dec. 7 on Art Rooney Avenue on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up in festive attire and will tie jingle bells to their shoelaces.

Concordia of the South Hills hosts its annual Holiday Bazaar on Dec. 10, featuring at variety of vendors, crafts, a basket auction and bake sale. The event takes place in Concordia’s independent living social room and is free and open to the public. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Concordia South Hills Caring Fund.
