The Bethel Park Police Pals are holding its 21st annual food drive Dec. 2-18. Students may drop off a food donation at any of the Bethel Park School District buildings.

Checks may be made out to the Bethel Park Police Pals with “food drive” in the memo line and mailed to: Bethel Park Police Pals, Attn: Officer Tom Rigatti, 5100 W. Library Ave., Bethel Park, PA 15102.

Non-perishable food items may be dropped off at several locations in Bethel Park, including Papa John’s Pizza on South Park Road; Brentwood Bank at the South Park Shops and McMurray Road; Parkside Plus Dollar Store in the Hillcrest Shops; Huntington Bank on South Park Road; Dairy Queen, Evey Hardware and New Song Church, all on Route 88; and the Bethel Park Community Center, the library and the lobby of the police station; and the Bethel Park Retirement Center on Bethel Church at Church Road.

From 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 7 and Dec. 14, members of the Bethel Park police and fire departments, Tri-Community South EMS and volunteers will be collecting money and food donations at the Bethel Park Shop ‘N Save and Walmart on Route 88. For more information, call 412-831-6800 ext 104.

• The Bethel Park Police Department is organizing an Adopt-A-Family program and is seeking sponsors to help Bethel Park families that need assistance providing Christmas presents and food for their families because of difficult circumstances. The program helped 44 families last year and the goal this season is to provide for 50 families.

Individuals or organizations agree to sponsor a family. Information about the family and a wish list is provided. Sometimes sponsors are combined.

The program is anonymous. For those willing to sponsor a family or know of a family in need, call 412-831-6800 ext. 104.

The Festival of Trees and Wreaths will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 23, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 24 in the Chartiers Room of the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department on Commercial Street. The fee is $2 for those age 6 and up. Saturday’s admission is good for a return Sunday for prize presentation. Set-up is Nov. 22. There will be a bake sale.

Borough offices will be closed Nov. 28-29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Light-up Night is at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Green Tree Municipal Center.

Beverly Bright Night will take place from 7-8 p.m. Dec. 5. Santa, music, caroling and children’s activities will be featured.

• Volunteers or those seeking community service hours are needed 2-4 p.m. Dec. 1 for Frosty’s Fun House at the recreation center, and again at 6 p.m. Dec. 1 for the tree lighting outside the library. For more information, call 724-942-5000.

The toy drive for township and Bridgeville families will continue through Nov. 30. Donations of new toys for ages 5-15 may be dropped off at the municipal building. Pick up of toys is available by calling 412-292-1342.

South West Communities Chamber of Commerce will hold a business after-hours mixer and annual meeting 5-7 p.m. Nov. 21 at Burgh’s Pizza and Wing Pub in Bridgeville. There will be complimentary hors d’ oeuvres and a cash bar and door prizes. Members admission is a $10 donation to the chamber foundation, and $15 for non-members. Advanced reservation is required by calling 412-221-4100 or emailing info@swccoc.org.

An E-cycling event takes place the second Saturday of every month. The next is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 14 in the parking lot of the municipal building near Clair’s Kennel. Because of the high number of televisions being dropped off, only one television per vehicle will be collected. There are no restrictions on other electronics.
