Cleaning lady facing theft charges
A felony charge of theft was filed Sept. 24 in the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo by Cecil Township police, accusing Young of stealing about $15,000 in jewelry from a residence on Ironwood Drive in Southpointe, said police Detective Mark Marcucci. The theft occurred Sept. 16, when the residents, Ronald and Natalie Aiello realized a diamond engagement ring, wedding band, bracelet and diamond earrings were missing.
Police went to Young’s home Sept. 20, only to learn she was not at home. On Sept. 21, Marcucci said he received information that Young wanted to speak with police and on Sept. 23, Marcucci said, Young appeared at the Peters Township police station where she confessed to the sergeant on duty.
Young told police she took the jewelry to a gold exchange store in Bethel Park where she received $842 for the jewelry the owners valued at $15,000. The Aiellos were able to buy back the jewelry, Marcucci said.
In addition to the theft charge, Marcucci requested restitution of $842. Young was charged by summons.
In Peters Township, police Chief Harry Fruecht said Young stole about $5,000 in jewelry, including a gold rope necklace, a white gold necklace with diamonds, a wedding band with diamonds and sapphires in white gold, along with an engagement ring with a one-carat, pear-shaped diamond. She was cleaning a house in the 300 block of Buckingham Drive in Venetia. Young confessed to selling the jewelry at the same gold exchange store in Bethel Park, Fruecht said.
A charge of theft was filed Sept. 24 in the office District Judge James Ellis following the Sept. 19 theft. Young will be charged by summons.
Mt. Lebanon police requested an arrest warrant for Young, charging her with theft. Mt. Lebanon police Lt. Aaron Lauth said Young stole about $400 in jewelry and medication from a house that she was cleaning in July.
