Neil Armstrong Middle School, Bethel Park, will host a free Parent Technology Information Night 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the school on Murray Avenue.

Guest speaker Ryan Klingensmith, prevention specialist at Western Psychiatric Institute, will talk to parents about cyber bullying, specifically the current trends, warning signs and resources to prevent and combat cyber bullying. Additionally, Klingensmith will address the impact cyber bullying and social media is having on the brain.

Westminster College admissions staff will visit Mt. Lebanon High School at 9:07 a.m. Oct. 11.

Discover the ins and outs of the college financial aid process as the Peters Township Public Library will hold a College Financial Aid Night at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 for high school students and their parents.

Registration is required for this free program by emailing programs@ptlibrary.org or calling 724-941-9430.

Entries are due by Oct. 25 for the South Hills Showdown, a cheer and dance competition hosted by the Bethel Park High School Competitive Spirit Squad.

The competition will take place at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 9 in the new state of the art gymnasium at Bethel Park High School and is open to all school, recreation and all-star cheer squads, dance teams, stunt groups and individuals. There will be multiple award ceremonies throughout the day. All judges will be UCA certified. Jubilee Christian School, an inter-denominational school for grades K-7 in Mt. Lebanon, will hold an open house at 10 a.m. Oct. 24. Attend a brief informational session, meet with the school’s principal and tour school facilities.

Applications are currently being aaccepted for the 2014-2015 school year. Openings are available for students in first through seventh grade who wish to transfer from public, private or home-school settings for the 2013-2014 school year.
