Three pizza restaurants and a BP
The editor’s comments regarding Peters Township’s three new pizza restaurants and a BP station were consistent with questions I receive frequently at the chamber. I commend Rick Raeder, Bethel Park Planning and Zoning Commission, for coming to the aid of his fellow planners at Peters. He was right on with his response in the Sept. 25 rebuttal entitled “Learn about role of government” regarding the role of the planning department in regulating new businesses. The Peters Township Planning Department and Board have worked tirelessly to maintain a balance between under and over regulation and we all should commend them as such.
As Mr. Raeder also noted, we, the consumers, will play an important role in the success or failure of these new businesses. I wish each of them the best of luck and thank them for spending millions of dollars to improve each of their locations. Remember the Valero eyesore? How about the former Ageless Beauty property between Arby’s and Wendy’s? The removal of overgrown vegetation and the new pavement have already made a huge improvement. Add the vacant Parkvale and Damon’s properties to the mix. These new additions will help keep Peters Township the vibrant community that it is. I urge you to visit each of them and form your own opinion “Are three new pizza restaurants and a BP too much?” You be the judge.
