KO, Canevin end season on positive notes

Although Keystone Oaks finished the season with a 2-7 record, the Golden Eagles ended on a positive note. They defeated Burgettstown, 51-15. In the triumph, they discovered building blocks for the future.

Junior Jim Canello rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Junior quarterback Kobe Phillippi completed 11 of 16 aerials for 205 yards and three scoring strikes of 14, 2 and 8 yards to Braydon Griffiths.

Additionally, Mike Lucas rushed for a 15-yard TD and Howard Lee return a fumble 90 yards for the final KO score.

Meanwhile, Bishop Canevin also won their last contest, whipping Serra Catholic, 42-19, to finish 2-7 in the Black Hills Conference and 3-7 overall.

Reed Relosky completed seven passes for 154 yards and three TDs of 14 yards to Sean Fitzgerald, 72 yards to Amaan Bridgett and 46 yards to Aaron Alke. Relosky also rushed for 133 yards and one TD of 30 yards. Bridgett rushed for scores of 1 and 10 yards.

The Colts ended the 2013 campaign on a down note, falling to West Allegheny, 49-0. CV posted a 1-8 overall record and 1-7 mark in the Parkway Conference.

Despite featuring two Division I recruits in Troy Apke and Alex Bookser, Mt. Lebanon failed to make the playoffs and finished 3-6 overall and 3-5 in the Southeastern Conference after a 35-7 loss to Upper St. Clair.

Apke accounted for the lone score, a 52-yard TD reception from Eddie Jenkins, who completed 13 passes for 125 yards.

The Big Macs wrapped up the season with a 1-8 overall record and 1-7 mark in the Southeastern Conference after dropping a 48-17 decision to Peters Township. In the loss, Jules Gdovic rushed for two touchdowns of 11 and 16 yards. Luke Starcevic kicked a 34-yard field goal.

The Buccaneers’ bid for an upset against Fort Cherry fell two seconds short when the Rangers recorded the decisive score in a 33-26 victory in the Black Hills Conference finale.

With the loss, CH finished 6-3 overall and 5-3 in the division.

Kaleb Susko completed eight passes for 160 yards. Miles Williamson grabbed six of those aerials for 145 yards and three TDs. A.J. Myers snagged a 32-yard pass from Susko for CH’s other score.
