Bethel Park, in conjunction with the state Department of Transportation, will sponsor the Fall Clean Up-Day on Oct. 19.
PennDOT will supply the trash bags, safety vests and gloves, and the municipality will provide patches for young participants.
Volunteers can help clean the parks and roads of Bethel Park and spruce up the community. A list of areas in need of attention is available upon request.

A spaghetti dinner to benefit Sydney Hawk will be held 1-5 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Hall.
On March 5, Hawk was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia. She is the daughter of Joe and Karin Hawk and little sister to Addison Marie. The Bridgeville resident is a first-grader at Chartiers Valley Primary School.

Octoberfest’s Classic Dog Parade will be held Sept. 14 in Green Tree Park. Meet at the entrance to the festival in the lower parking lot at 1 p.m. Strut your pup. Prizes for top dog and free refreshments.
The fourth annual Brew Fest will be held 4-7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Academy lot behind the Saloon. Featured band will be Bastard Bearded Irishmen. Proceeds benefit the Mt. Lebanon Veterans Memorial and Veterans Breakfast Club for ongoing maintenance and programming.
There is a $30 donation that includes a commemorative glass. Stop by the municipal building or public safety building from 9-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or purchase tickets online at the link on the municipality’s website. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
No one under the age of 21 will be admitted so do not bring children or teens.
Food will be available from Bados, Pitaland and Walnut Grill.
The state Department of Transportation will hold a display of plans for the proposed dual roundabouts project at the intersection of Route 519 and Brownlee Road.
The display is set for 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in the North Strabane Township municipal building.
The purpose of the meeting is to present the plans, traffic control, traffic simulations for the roundabouts, and to obtain input from the public before design is completed.
The Mexican War Streets House and Garden Tour will be held 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 15.
The self-guided tour includes 13 homes and four gardens throughout the historic neighborhood on Pittsburgh’s North Side.
Homes represent those that have undergone extensive restorations and works in progress. The tour will also feature a midway of vendors and eateries.
Tickets are available in advance for $18 per person, or $20 per person the day of the tour at the ticket booth on Monterey Street at West North Avenue.

Cheers for Beers, a tasting of Pittsburgh craft beers, food and music, will be held 6-9 p.m. Oct. 10, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe.
