Lebo ladies race to 2nd place

In a potential preview of this year’s PIAA cross country championships, the Mt. Lebanon girls finished second out of 37 varsity teams in the Foundation Meet held in Hershey.

Run on the Hershey Parkview Course, which will be the site used also for the state finals Nov. 2, the Lebo ladies totaled 90 points and placed second behind Pennsbury, which won with 78 points.

Sophomore Kelsey Potts paced the Blue Devils, finishing second overall. Senior Jillian Hunsberger followed in fifth position.

Other finishers included: senior Callie Gunzenhauser, 19th; sophomore Sadie Saxton, 21st; sophomore Claire Dougherty, 43rd; and senior Julia Staltari.

Grace Tandon finished first in the junior varsity portion of the Foundation Meet. The freshman helped Lebo to a fourth-place finish as a team.

Other contributors for the Blue Devils included: Ellie Meinzer, ninth; Nichole Dahlen, 13th; Frankie Kavilir, 23rd; Azari Kobik, 49th; and Emma Furry, 60th.
