Cara Price, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Price of South Fayette, was awarded second place at the Technology Student Association’s National Competition in Orlando, Fla. After placing first in the PA TSA State Competitions at Seven Springs, Cara was eligible to compete at the national event. More than 5,000 students, advisors and parents attended the national conference, which was held this summer at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. Cara’s submission focused on music. The South Fayette High School TSA team is led by Mr. Brian Garlick and was represented by 24 students at the state competition. The entire team met weekly after school as they prepared for their individual and team competitions. When interviewed, Cara stated “Everyone on the South Fayette TSA Team worked very hard, and although I was the only one to place, many are equally skilled (if not more) in their respective events. I did well relative to others; they’re talented beyond comparison. The students who have given their dedication to the club for years deserve acknowledgement regardless of whether the official organization deems to give it. Besides, I never would have made it this far without a team.”
Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA has school programs available for preschool through college students in Washington County.
