The Pittsburgh Rose Society will hold its spring pruning demonstration at the Renziehausen Park Arboretum in McKeesport at 1 p.m. April 4 and 12. Rosarians will be in the garden to conduct hands-on pruning demonstrations, as well as answer questions about planting, fertilizing and pest control. Bring pruning tools, gloves and knee pads to learn and participate. The event will go on rain or shine and is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.pghrosesociety.org.

Castle Shannon Revitalization Corporation has received a grant from the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy through TreeVitalize to plant trees in Hamilton Park. Volunteers are needed for the April 12 planting, which takes place 9 a.m.-noon. Registration is required by April 5. For more information, visit www.paconserve.org/216/treevitalize.
