Lebo ladies take second at Hempfield

The Mt. Lebanon girls’ track and field team finished second to Hempfield during the Lady Spartan Invitational.
The Blue Devils totaled 103 points as they scored in 13 of 17 events.
Jillian Hunsberger, Audrey Gordon and Natalie Corrado led the charge for Lebo.
Hunsberger captured first place in the 3,200-meter race while Gordon won the 800-meter dash and took third in the mile. Callie Gunzenhauser followed in fourth place.
Corrado claimed the gold in the discus. She also dominated the hurdles, securing second in the highs and taking third in the intermediates.
Jillian Linkowski secured sixth in the 100-meter high hurdles. She also clinched the silver medal in the triple jump.
Kelsey Potts picked up second places in the 1,600 and 3,200 races.
Lebo placed three runners in the dashes. Caroline Glickert ended up eighth in the 100. Ellie Meinzer finished fourth in the 200. Aleighsha Gibson also added eighth in the 400.
All three of the Lebo ladies’ relays placed. The 4-by-100 finished fifth as did the 4-by-800. The 4-by-400 followed in fourth.
While the invitational was a preview of what is expected to be the battle for the WPIAL team title. The semifinals will be held April 28 with the team finals scheduled for May 7 at Baldwin.
The Blue Devils, who defeated Upper St. Clair last week in dual meet competition, 112-38, resume Section 6 competition with a meet April 21 at Peters Township.
