Social media program for parents
The Mt. Lebanon School District will present “Get Social: A Hands-On Program to Help Parents Navigate the World of Social Media” at 7 p.m. April 22 in the Jefferson Middle School Library.
The first half of the program will feature Sarah Beeghley, a 15-year-old student who has spoken at state and national technology conferences with the goal to make students, teachers and parents aware of the dangers of cyberbullying, one of the many topics she discusses on her blog The Geeky Girl.
The second half of the program will focus on hands on social media training. Parents are invited to BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology- smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.) so technology director Christopher Stengel, high school unit principal Erin Wright and the Class of 2014 student council officers can help them explore and become more familiar with popular social media tools.
