Wiles qualifies for nationals

Rachel Wiles of Mt. Lebanon will compete in nationals as a result of her championship performance during the International Equestrian Association Zone 2 championships at the Horse On Course Farm in Valencia.
Competing against the top rides in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, Wiles finished first in the Middle School Hunt Seat Future Beginner class.
She will battle against 24 other riders for the national title May 16-18 in Springfield, Mass.
The eighth grade student at Mellon Junior High rides for the Caustelot Farms team in McDonald.
Online registration is now open for the Brentwood Firecracker 5K. The Early Bird rate is $18 through May 30. Rates increase to $20 June 1 and $25 on race day if space permits.
This year’s run, set for July 4, will be capped at 2,500 entrants. New features also include disposable timing chips as well as start and finish timing mats.
