(PIX) The partners of the certified public accounting firm of Goff Backa Alfera & Company, LLC (GBACO) announce the hiring of Julia E. Backa as a staff consultant. Julia is a 2011 graduate of Otterbein University and received her master of science – business management from Dublin City University. She is a resident of Mt. Lebanon.
At a May school board meeting, the Mt. Lebanon School Board unanimously voted to appoint Marybeth D. Irvin, Ph.D. as the new assistant superintendent of Elementary Education. Dr. Irvin was the principal of Lincoln Elementary School, where she has served since July 2012. In her new position, Dr. Irvin will oversee elementary curriculum K-5. During her tenure at Lincoln, the school was awarded its third Blue Ribbon in 2013 and was among the Mt. Lebanon Schools recognized this year with the Governor’s Award for Academic Excellence. Prior to Mt. Lebanon, Dr. Irvin was the director of Curriculum K-8 in the State College Area School District. She began her career as an elementary teacher in the Mifflin County School District and moved into administration as a principal. Dr. Irvin holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in educational administration and a doctorate in educational leadership, all from The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Irvin’s appointment was effective July 1.
(PIX) Mt. Lebanon resident John Adair, a sales associate affiliated with the Coldwell Banker Real Estate Services South Hills office, has been ranked among Pittsburgh’s top real estate agents. Adair ranked No. 6 on the 2014 REAL Trends America’s Best Real Estate Agents list based on sales transaction sides, closing 95 transactions in 2013. In Pennsylvania, he ranked No. 19.
