Pa. American Water union workers back on job
Union workers with Pennsylvania American Water are back on the job after the two parties voted on Aug. 16 to ratify a new contract.
Local 537 workers had been off the job since June 18 in what the Pennsylvania Labor and Industry Board had ruled a lockout.
A Pennsylvania American Water spokeswoman said the new four-year contract was agreed upon Aug. 13, and workers were back on the job Aug. 18.
“Both parties are very pleased that the contract issues are resolved and look forward to working together to continue to provide Pittsburgh area customers with the quality, reliable water service that they expect,” Josephine Posti said.
