A Fair in the Park
The Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh presents its 45th annual A Fair in the Park Sept. 5-7 at Mellon Park (corner of Fifth and Shady avenues), Shadyside. The Fair is a juried contemporary fine art and craft festival featuring more than 110 regional and national artists working in a variety of mediums including clay, fiber, wood, jewelry, glass, metal, mixed media and two-dimensional art.
Internationally-recognized rock group Cello Fury, featuring three cellists and a drummer, highlights the Saturday schedule with performances at 11:15 a.m., and 2:15 and 5:15 p.m. Other musicians scheduled to entertain will include The Jenny Wilson Trio, Ruby Red and the Dirty Devils, the Dan Baker Trio, Matt Miskie, Arvel Bird and Lovebettie. The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium will be at the Fair with animals and their docents. The traditional musical group Calliope will conduct demonstrations, and various other artisans will provide interactive creative opportunities.
Hours are 1-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
