Vehicle break-ins: Several vehicles, most of which were unlocked and at various locations throughout the municipality, were entered and numerous items such as electronics and loose change were stolen, police said. Police urge all motorists to lock their vehicles. If anyone sees something or someone suspicious, call police immediately at 412-833-2000.
CANONSBURG
Motorcycle stolen: Colton C. Segelken of 400 Franklin Ave., told police early Aug. 29 that his orange 2003 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was stolen from outside his residence.
Luring attempt: A 10-year-old girl told her stepfather a man at a home on Vine Street tried to lure her into his house to see his cat on Aug. 18, police said. Police were unable to determine which home.
Poles, wires downed: A tractor-trailer driven by Anthony Fischels, 43, of Waterloo, Iowa, pulled down wires and snapped a utility pole the morning of Aug. 19, after making a delivery to Keystone Hardware, 617 W. Pike St., police said. He told police he made previous deliveries without any problems. Firefighters and police from Canonsburg and Chartiers and North Strabane townships assisted customers in moving vehicles away from the live wires until West Penn Power arrived to make repairs.
Theft charge: Christopher Bradley, 38, of 428 Duquesne Ave., Canonsburg, was charged Aug. 18, with theft by Canonsburg police. He is accused of stealing drums, microphones and a sound mixing box from his stepfather July 19. The items, valued at $509, were sold at a pawn shop. The charge will be send by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Three arraigned: James Lawrence Harper, 21, of 519 Blaine Ave., Canonsburg; Ryan E. Steffan, 27, of 306 N. Central Ave., Canonsburg; and Damen Gamble, 22, of 603 S. Central Ave., Canonsburg, were arraigned before District Judge David Mark Aug. 21, on charges of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. They are charged in their roles in the theft of a laptop computer from 517 Blaine Ave., Sept. 19. It was sold for $150 in crack, borough police said. The men were released on $25,000 unsecured bond.
George Loutsion of Canonsburg told police Aug. 21 a framing nailer, finish nailer, cement saw and blade, and hammer drill were stolen from a house he was working on at 517 Chartiers Ave.
Motorcycle stolen: Kevin Settimio, of 404 N. Jefferson Ave., told police early Aug. 22 his red, 2007 Suzuki motorcycle was stolen from outside his home. The license number is E8956.
Assault arrest: George Gardner, 38, of Canonsburg, was arrested Aug. 21, by police on charges of simple assault and harassment for allegedly assaulting Dawn Viscardi of 514 1/2 Chartiers Ave. Gardner allegedly punched, pushed and choked Viscardi following an argument, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and released from Washington County Jail after posting $1,000 of a $10,000 percentage bond.
CASTLE SHANNON
Retail theft arrests: Cynthia Pruss, 60, of 100 Academy Ave., Pittsburgh, and Emily Kiener, 35, of 1793 Tragone Drive, Upper St. Clair, were arrested for retail theft for an incident at 5 p.m. Aug. 9 on Willow Avenue, police said.
Juveniles charged: Four juveniles, ages 16, 17 and two age 14, were charged with theft and trespass at 2:44 p.m. Aug. 16, on Middleboro Road, police said.
Disorderly conduct: George Zubasic, 55, of 205 Chess St., Monongahela, was arrested for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness following an incident at 6:50 p.m. Aug. 18, in the 3600 block of Library Road, police said.
Fraud: Mail fraud was reported at 1:01 p.m. Aug. 20, by a resident on McRoberts Road, police said.
A theft by a quick-change artist was reported at 2:42 p.m. Aug. 15, in the 3700 block of Library Road; mail was stolen from a residence on Hoodridge Drive before 1 p.m. Aug. 15; and an iPod was stolen from a business in the 3400 block of Library Road, at 9:45 a.m. Aug. 21, police said.
CECIL TOWNSHIP
A red fiberglass street sign printed Ciotti Lane was reported stolen from the intersection of Ciotti Lane and Georgetown Road, township police said. Ralph Ciotti of 109 Georgetown Road said the sign was last seen Aug. 19. The theft report was made at 11:25 a.m. Aug. 21.
Drug arrest: Justin Michael Karmann, 26, of 186 Cecil-Hendersonville Road, was placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond early on the afternoon of Aug. 22, following his arrest on charges of possession with the intent to deliver heroin, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession with the intent to deliver, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Justice James Ellis. An investigation began in June after township police received complaints of suspected drug activity at his residence. A search warrant was issued Aug. 21 for a search of the house where police found one Suboxone film strip for which there was no prescription, and an empty heroin stamp bag. A red marijuana pipe with burned residue was found in a bedroom cabinet, police said. In a cigarette packet on the front porch, police found a razor blade and a cut straw, both with a white powder residue, and in an ashtray in the kitchen police found a number of burned heroin stamp bags. Police also allege Karmann sold a confidential informant heroin July 16 on the Montour Trail. Karmann was arraigned before Ellis at 1:20 p.m. Aug. 22.
MT. LEBANON
Pedestrian struck: A pedestrian was struck while crossing Bower Hill Road at 8:31 a.m. Aug. 14. Additional information was not available.
Michael Mondine, 32, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Washington Road at 5:20 p.m. Aug. 12, police said.
Illegal use solvents: Kathleen Nagy, 50, of 939 Ulrich St., Pittsburgh, was arrested for the sale or illegal use of certain solvents at 7:53 p.m. Aug. 16, police said.
Emily Shields, 23, of 1385 Terrace Drive, Mt. Lebanon, was arrested for DUI and misbranding and possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, at 11:56 p.m. Aug. 16, on Dell Avenue, police said.
Disorderly conduct: Michael Bressan, 21, of 131 Village Court, Upper St. Clair, was arrested for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness at 2:19 a.m. Aug. 17 on Outlook Drive, police said.
There was broken glass and a damaged door in a hallway on Roselawn Avenue, reported at 9:54 p.m. Aug. 15, police said.
Fraud: Charges were make without authorization on a debit card from Magnolia Place at 10:17 a.m. Aug. 16; and a credit card was used to obtain cash, reported by a resident on Lakemont Drive at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 16, police said.
Thefts: Cash and jewelry were taken from a home on Sleppy Hollow Road before 8:49 p.m. Aug. 13; cash was stolen from a home on Lakemont Drive before 3:35 p.m. Aug. 14; there was an attempted retail theft on Cooke Lane before 8:20 p.m. Aug. 18; and a retail theft was reported at 4:16 p.m. Aug. 19, police said.
Suspicious activity: Various discarded household items were found smashed and broken on a lawn on Country Club Drive at 4:10 p.m. Aug. 17, police said.
PETERS TOWNSHIP
Burglary: A man cutting grass at a residence in the 300 block of Thomas Road told police when he arrived at 1:39 p.m. Aug. 18, he heard the rear breezeway door slam and saw one of two men running from the house, township police said. Nothing appeared to be missing.
David T. Yonek, 48, of 315 E. McMurray Road, was charged by police with simple assault, harassment and driving under the influence of alcohol, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins. Police said he choked his son about 10:45 a.m. Aug. 16 and then drove to Meadowbrooke Circle. He was released on $25,000 bond.
Four microphones, with a total value of $630, were stolen from a drum set in the worship center of South Hills Bible Chapel, 300 Gallery Drive, McMurray, township police said. The theft occurred between 2 p.m. Aug. 13, and 6 p.m. Aug. 16, but was not reported stolen until 1:35 p.m. Aug. 20.
Underage drinking: Shane P. Kelly, 19, of Ulrich Street, Castle Shannon, will be cited for underage drinking and as a minor prohibited from operating motor vehicle, township police said. Kelly was stopped in the 400 block of McClelland Road at 3:36 a.m. Aug. 23 and told the office he had been drinking before driving the vehicle. Any driver under the age of 21 is not permitted to drive and may not have any alcohol in his or her system.
Burglary: The front door and a rear basement door were closed but unlocked when a resident returned home at 5:27 p.m. Aug. 23, township police said. Nothing appeared to be out of place, however, two rings with a total value of $1,000, were missing. An inventory is being taken, police said.
One injured: One man, Edward Molek, complained of head, neck and back pain following a three vehicle accident at 4:13 p.m. Aug. 22, on Washington Road just south of West McMurray Road, township police said. A pickup truck operated by Brett Donas, 18, of Amberwoods Drive, Canonsburg, was unable to stop and struck the rear of Molek’s sport-utility vehicle, which then struck the read of a sport-utility vehicle driven by Richard Hagerty, 66, of Linn Portal Road, Washington, police said. Hagerty and Donas were not injured. Molek, 41, of Paxton Farm Road, Washington, was taken to Canonsburg General Hospital for treatment, police said.
