CANONSBURG
No injury: Former Canonsburg mayor Anthony Colaizzo, 84, of Hawthorne Street, Canonsburg, escaped injury Aug. 22 when his vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by Melissa Beggarly, 45, of Profio Road, McDonald, at the intersection of West College Street and Belmont Avenue. Beggarly was turning from West College Street onto Belmont Avenue when she was struck by Colaizzo’s vehicle, police said. Colaizzo said he was unable to stop his vehicle at the stop sign. Beggerly was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Home entered: James Hackney of 17 Morgan St., told police Aug. 23 that his home was burglarized. He said that he saw one man inside the house and believed there was a second person. Nothing was reported stolen.
Huffing charge: Mark F. Zadach, 53, of 228 Valley Road, will be charged with illegal use of a solvent after he allegedly was found inhaling electronics duster inside his vehicle while it was parked in the lot at 23 E. Pike St., Aug. 23. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Curtis J. Norman of 230 E. College St. told police Aug. 27 a thief jimmied the lock on his vehicle and stole $25 in change and 25 compact discs.
CASTLE SHANNON
Hit and run: A car parked on Bockstoce Avenue was struck with the other driver leaving the scene, police said. The accident was reported at 11 p.m. Aug. 25.
Drug/drinking violations: Ronald Bassler, 18, of 943 Sleepy Hollow Road, Castle Shannon, was charged with drug violations, and Marco Shallo, 18, of 518 Rossmoor Ave., Pittsburgh, was charged with underage drinking following an incident at 1:20 a.m. Aug. 23, police said. The incident was on Sleepy Hollow Road.
Timothy Sullivan, 40, of 448 Hoodridge Drive, Pittsburgh, was charged with simple assault following an incident on Hoodridge Drive at 9:28 a.m. Aug. 26, police said.
Three people were charged with disorderly conduct following an incident on Hoodridge Drive at 2:09 p.m. Aug. 26, police said. Charged were Cheryl Conner, 66, of 539 Haverhill Drive, Mt. Lebanon; Janice Wolk, 68, of 18 Woodland Drive, Mt. Lebanon; and Ralph Hathaway, 78, of 15 Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon, police said.
Underage drinking: Two boys, ages 17 and 16, were cited for underage drinking on Sleepy Hollow Road at 12:59 a.m. Aug. 28, police said.
A vehicle parked in a business lot in the 3600 block of Library Road was damaged before 3:13 p.m. Aug. 22, police said.
Theft: An iPad was stolen from Middleboro Road, police said. The report was made at 1:02 p.m. Aug. 24.
CECIL TOWNSHIP
Linda M. Golinski, 51, of 3950 Millers Run Road, McDonald, was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and harassment following a domestic dispute in her residence at 6:09 p.m. Aug. 25, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis. Golinski was placed in the Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond after being arraigned before Ellis at 10:45 p.m. Aug. 25. She was charged following a domestic argument with her husband Daniel Golinski, who told police she was intoxicated and threatened to burn the house and his belongings, then threatened to kill him after grabbing a steak knife. He said he was able to grab her arm and take the knife away from her before police arrived. She then locked herself in a bedroom, police said. Golinski was arraigned by Ellis and placed in Washington County jail.
Appliances stolen: A General Electric wine cooler, valued at $1,000, and a General Electric dishwasher, valued at $600, were stolen from a house under construction at 1011 Coldstream Drive, Southpointe, before 8:08 a.m. Tuesday, township police said. The appliances are owned by Heartland Homes.
A Hendersonville couple, Daniel Rappe, 44, and Danielle Harps, both of 221 School Street, Canonsburg, were charged with simple assault, harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia following a domestic dispute in their residence at 1:51 a.m. Aug. 27, township police said. Rappe was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and was placed in the Washington County Jail on $1,000 bond. Harps was taken to the hospital for treatment and will be charged later.
Copper stolen: A house at 1420 Reissing Road was entered through a rear door and copper pipe and wiring were stolen along with several lights and electrical wire, township police said. The items are valued at $500 to $600. The burglary was reported at 10:05 a.m. Aug. 28 by the property owner Charles Nimpfer.
PETERS TOWNSHIP
Husband arrested: Christian Lee Hart, 58, of 464 E. McMurray Road, McMurray, was charged with simple assault following a domestic dispute in his residence at 8:02 p.m. Aug. 25, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis. Hart is accused of arguing with his wife, Laureen Hart, over finances and with knocking her over and attempting to punch her multiple times while he dragged her by her arm. Police said she had a cut on her right elbow and complained of a headache. He was arraigned before Ellis Aug. 25 and was released on his own recognizance.
One injured: One of two drivers involved in a rear-end type collision on Washington Road north of the Waterdam Road intersection complained of pain following the 5:21 p.m. accident Aug. 26, township police said. Driver Paul Wayne Peyatt Jr. 20, of 348 Hancock St., Washington, told police he was unable to stop for traffic while traveling south in front of 4160 Washington Road, and struck the rear of a vehicle operated by James R. Faccenda, 61, of 1043 Sarvis Drive, Bethel Park. Sarvis complained of back and neck pain, but refused medical transport, police said.
Two injured: Two drivers were injured in a nearly head-on collision at 9:43 a.m. Aug. 27, in the northbound lanes of Washington Road, just north of the Valley Brook Road intersection, township police said. Driver John Witzel, 70, of 2544 Edgewood Drive, Upper St. Clair, told police he was traveling south when he apparently lost consciousness, police said. His vehicle traveled from the southbound to the northbound lanes where it collided head-on with a vehicle operated by Evelyn Kerns, 69, of 5477 Main St., Bethel Park. Another northbound vehicle, driven by Robert M. Pikelis, 62, of 153 McBride Road, Canonsburg, was unable to stop and collided with Kerns’ vehicle, police said. Pikelis was not injured. Kerns complained of cuts and bruises and pain in her left shoulder. Witzel suffered cuts and bruises and complained of back pain, police said. Both were taken to St. Clair Hospital for treatment. The hospital does not release patient information. A fourth driver, Paul Sefcik, 36, of 105 Mockingbird Lane, Canonsburg, was not injured and told police his vehicle was damaged by flying debris.
Burglary: About $850 in cash was stolen from Sirena Taco Joint and Bar, 3909 Washington Road, township police said. The restaurant was secured when the owner closed at 10 p.m. Aug. 26, and was locked when an employee arrived at about 9:15 a.m. Aug. 27, police said. However, when the owner arrived at about 4 p.m., money in three separate bags was missing. Police found pry marks on a door.
A tractor valued at $20,000 was stolen from the rear of a property in the 100 block of Lynda Lane, Venetia, before 1:27 p.m. Aug. 28, township police said. The New Holland diesel tractor was last seen Aug. 20. The property was entered through a window in a rear door, police said.
Motorcyclist injured: A motorcycle rider, Fritz W. Wherry Jr., 44, of 109 Greenbriar Drive, McMurray, suffered face and head injuries after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle driven by Arnold M. Ruben, 70, of 850 Baldwin St., Castle Shannon, at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 28, township police said. The accident occurred at the intersection of East McMurray and Center Church roads. Ruben was not injured. Wherry was not wearing a helmet and refused medical transport, police said.
SCOTT TOWNSHIP
Theft: Two women and one man stole a cart filled with food from Shop ‘N Save and fled in a tan vehicle, police said. The theft was reported at 10:43 p.m. Aug. 11.
Harassment/terroristic threats: Melissa Rodgers Jackson, 39, of 13 Shawhan Ave., Carnegie, was charged with harassment and terroristic threats after police said she violated an officer’s verbal warning and made additional threats at 6:05 p.m. Aug. 12.
Woman charged: Donnetta Morison, 33, of 3045 Estate Drive, Oakdale, was charged with theft after taking petty cash from Beaver Street, police said. The arrest was made at 10 a.m. Aug. 13.
Dmar Muldrow, 29, of 120 W. Elizabeth St., Pittsburgh, and Melissa Fultz, 28, of 20 Locust St., McKees Rocks, were charged with theft and conspiracy after taking bottles of alcohol from the Wine and Spirits store on Cochran Road at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14.
Simple assault: David Brown Sr., 41, of 3064 Zephyr Ave., Pittsburgh, and Carter Woods, 23, of 122 Ridge Ave., Washington, were charged with simple assault following a fight on Carothers Avenue at 2 a.m. Aug. 15, police said.
Domestic assault: Michael Thomas DeGlau, 29, of 1000 Margarite Drive, Pittsburgh, and Andrew Heim, 44, also of 1000 Margarite Drive, were charged with assault at 10:21 p.m. Aug. 15 during which both men displayed weapons, police said. Both were taken to the Allegheny County Jail on various charges.
Public drunkenness: Joseph Edward Solomon, 37, of 1529 Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon, was cited for public intoxication after he was found passed out in a yard on Worcester Drive at 4:10 a.m. Aug. 16. He was taken to the police department until he was sober.
Paul William Pletcher, 47, of Delbarton, W.Va., was charged with pubic drunkenness at 3:20 a.m. Aug. 17, when police were dispatched to 1322 Hope Hollow Road for a male not wearing pants going into vehicles. He was cited and released, police said.
Drug violations: Desiree Robinson, 28, of 882 Reunion Place, Pittsburgh, was charged with possession of a controlled substance when she caused a disturbance at McDonald’s at 2:21 p.m. Aug. 17, police said. Robinson had an outstanding warrant.
Criminal trespass: Juveniles were cited for entering an abandoned house on Finley Avenue at 3:10 p.m. Aug. 17, police said. The youths were cited with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
Public drunkenness: Michelle Shaw, 55, of 718 Robin Drive, Pittsburgh, was arrested for public drunkenness after she was found intoxicated and lying in the middle of Pachel Way at 10:41 p.m. Aug. 17.
Theft: Two employees of Advance Auto were charged with theft and conspiracy for taking money from the business at 4:51 p.m. Aug. 19, police said. Charged were Clarence Dennard Johnson, 24, of 11 Marchmont St., Pittsburgh, and Jaque Rashaad Haygood, 23, of 316 Reamer Ave., Carnegie, police said.
Mark Mesagno, 51, of 426 Hill St., Carnegie, was charged with aggravated assault following a fight at 4:33 p.m,. Aug. 20, on Carothers Avenue when the victim, who was not named, suffered serious head injuries.
Assault: Zlatan Banovic, 40, of 200 Ridge Star Drive, Coraopolis, was charged with simple assault and assault on a sports official following an incident at 7:05 p.m. Aug. 24 during a men’s over 30 league soccer game, police said.
Receiving stolen property: Brian Lee Fodor Jr., 29, of 104 Alexander Ave., Strabane, was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property after he was found with merchandise stolen from Walmart during a traffic stop at 8:31 p.m. Aug. 24, police said.
SOUTH FAYETTE
Criminal mischief: A toilet was removed from a rest room in Fairview Park and smashed between Aug. 14 and Aug. 16, township police said. The toilet is valued at $200.
Sweeper stolen: The front door of a residence in the 4000 block of Fieldcrest Drive, Bridgeville, was forced open and the door and lock were damaged between Aug. 23 and Aug. 24, township police said. A sweeper valued at $150 was stolen and there was about $50 in damages to the door and lock.
Underage drinking: A 15-year-old will receive a citation for underage drinking following an incident at 8:30 p.m. Friday on Windsor Court, township police said.
Bernadette Anne Frye, no age given, of 1502 Candor Road, Bulger, was charged with supplying false information when attempting to purchase a firearm March 22 at General Firearms, Thoms Run Road, Presto, township police said. She was arrested for unsworn falsification to law enforcement and sale or transfer of a firearm, police said. Following an investigation, Frye was charged Aug. 20.
