Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hoyson of Upper St. Clair, and Mr. and Mrs. Walt Laboon of Pleasant Hills announce the engagement of their children, Laura Catherine Hoyson and W. Steven Laboon.

Laura is a 2005 graduate of Upper St. Clair High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in history and anthropology. She continued her education as a graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh, where she studied secondary social studies education, earning her master of arts and teaching degree in 2010. She will be substitute teaching for Rochester area schools, while looking for a permanent teaching position.

Steven is a 2005 graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in communications and political science. Steven worked as a Nike Golf Tech Representative for three years in Pittsburgh before assuming his current role as the Nike Golf Territory Sales Representative for Western New York.

Laura and Steve will make their home in Farmington, N.Y.

Wedding plans are in progress for a late 2014 or early 2015 wedding.
