Info Box: City Mission

Washington City Mission is a nondenominational, Christian social services organization. Goods and services are provided without regard to race, color, creed, national origin or religion. Its ministry is supported by private, tax-deductible donations. From its founding in 1941, the Washington City Mission has provided shelter and free meals to the homeless and poor men. In 1986, Avis Arbor Women’s Shelter opened to become a safe haven to homeless women and their children.

She always loved to sing. As a very young girl she would sing every day, especially Disney melodies and familiar fun tunes featured on TV programs. By first grade she performed her first solo, a song called “Speaking With Kindness.” This delightful and talented teen is Kiani Levi of Venetia.

A senior at Hillcrest Christian Academy in Bethel Park, Kiana continues to sing in school programs and during worship services at South Hills Assembly. Her amazing voice has recently rewarded her with a music contract with Tate Publishing, a Christian-based, family-owned publisher located in Oklahoma.

Her career took off in 2011 when an opportunity arose to enhance her dream. Kiana auditioned during a try-out session for Actors, Models & Talent for Christ when they recruited in Pittsburgh. Her musical talent was quickly recognized and she was chosen to sing in AM&T’S SHINE event in Florida. There, she also impressed representatives from the Tate Music Group.

“Tate asked me to write three songs and send them a CD,” recalls Kiana. “Very soon, I began composing lyrics and music for my first original, ‘Soaring,’ which prompted a recording contract from Tate for an eight-song album.”

With seven additional originals completed by last September, she headed to Tate’s studio in the mid-West to record her first album and her first music video.

Kiana’s album, “Kiana Levi,” is a collection of her own life’s experiences, which have shaped the special person she is. A strong supporter of good deeds and helping others, Kiana’s lyrics and music are filled with encouragement and hope. Listen to Kiana on YouTube – Kiana Levi “Just Before Dawn.”

Diagnosed with debilitating juvenile rheumatoid arthritis as a young girl, she is now in good health. With lots of prayers and faith, Kiana gives credit to God for both her recovery and musical talent. Along with her perseverance and faith in God’s mercy, Kiana is completely healed.

“I am blessed and I pray that others may see Christ through me and be inspired by my music,” Kiana went on to say.

Locally, Kiana performed for a Washington City Mission benefit held at the George Washington Hotel last October. She drew plenty of attention with her rendition of “Oceans” by Hillsong and “Not for a Moment” by Meredith Andrews and also with “Reflection of Me” and “Soaring,” originals from her CD. She was also featured soloist for a fundraising event benefiting the Pregnancy Resource Center.

Kiana will perform during the 20th Annual Sweet Sunday dessert festival event at 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe. Proceeds will benefit the Washington City Mission.

A dominant voice in Christian music, her second album (in the works) will feature Christian music as well as uplifting contemporary music about life. To reach Kiana, email kianalevimusic@gmail.com.
