Thank you for 50 years of patronage

2 min read

We have sold our barber shop, Chiodo’s on Glenmore Avenue in Dormont, and retired this month. Now, we two brothers, Pete and Mario Chiodo, would like to try to thank all our clients for everything they have done for us over the past 50 years. Let us explain:

We came to this country from Calabria, a very poor region of Southern Italy, in the 1950s, with barely any education, very little money and no English. We not only survived, but thrived, thanks to the kindness and generosity of our new friends and neighbors. Most of them have passed on, so we can no longer thank them personally. We also cannot individually thank all the generations of clients and friends who are still among us, so we are writing this letter in hopes that many of them will see it.

It would be impossible to list all the reasons we have to be grateful, but we are especially appreciative of our clients’ understanding when serious illnesses struck us or our families. Countless times, one of us had to leave the shop for emergencies – often suddenly and without notice – but our clients were always understanding about appointments, allowing us the flexibility we needed and helping in any way they could.

Many families have trusted us to mentor their children, in some cases, for four generations. This is a trust that goes bone deep. So many people have trusted and helped us in so many ways over the years, it is not possible for us to express our gratitude adequately.

We consider ourselves truly blessed to have had so many and such friends over the last five decades, and we thank them for their patronage, their loyalty, their understanding and their generosity of heart and spirit.
