McKee, Relihan lead SF Lions to victory

The one-two punch of Nick McKee and Jack Relihan knocked Greensburg Salem (10-12) out of the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs as South Fayette scored a 54-42 victory in a preliminary playoff game at Peters Township.

McKee and Relihan both fired in 16 points. McKee knocked down four 3-pointers and fired in 14 of his tallies in the first half as the Lions used a 10-0 to vault into the lead, 23-10. Relihan scored a dozen of his points in the second half.

Brett Brumbaugh also finished in double digits with 10 tallies. The junior also grabbed 13 rebounds.

Justin Watson led the Lions on the boards. He pulled down 18 rebounds. He also defended Simeon Stevens, who was the Golden Lions’ leading scorer.

Pat Boyer and Antonio Ferrari both finished with 13 points for Greensburg Salem. Boyer also had 12 rebounds.

With the victory, South Fayette improved to 13-9 overall and advanced to play No. 4 Elizabeth-Forward (18-3) on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at a site and time to be determined.

In other Class AAA preliminary action, Keystone Oaks dropped a 71-58 decision to Ambridge at North Allegheny.

In the loss, Erat Ojak (15), Bryadon Griffiths (15) and Taylor Lehman (11) finished in double digits for the Golden Eagles, who ended the season 5-17 overall.
