SLS beat Jeannette, 61-49
Seton-La Salle (22-1) defeated Jeannette, 61-49, and advanced to the WPIAL Class AA quarterfinals in boys’ basketball where the Rebels will face Summit Academy (16-5) at 1 p.m. Feb. 22 at Plum.
In the victory over the Jayhawks (13-10), Dale Clancy exploded for 24 points. His six points, all on drives, propelled the Rebels to a 53-45 lead for good. Ten straight points by Clancy lifted SLS to a 22-12 lead at the 6:01 mark in the second stanza. SLS lead, 29-22 at halftime.
Also for the Rebels, Ryan Norkus pumped in 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Levi Masua fired in 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Summit Academy defeated Washington, 75-65, in its first-round playoff game at West Allegheny. Dasonte White and Devin Montgomery paced the Knights with 29 and 24 points.
In other action, Chartiers-Houston, appearing in the playoffs for the first time, dropped a 59-41 decision to Aliquippa (17-5).
For the Buccaneers, who finished 17-7 overall, Alex Ferrari and Ben Shade fired in 19 and 10 tallies.
