Mt. Lebanon remained undefeated and atop the Section 4-AAAA standings with a 5-0 record after the Blue Devils dismantled Upper St. Clair, 62-49, Monday night in girls’ basketball action.

The Lebo ladies opened up an 11-4 lead before USC went on an 8-0 run to grab a short-lived lead, 12-11, on a bucket by Elayna Kaylor. The Blue Devils took the lead for good when Margie McCaffrey beat the first quarter buzzer with a basket.

Lebo, which stretched a 26-18 halftime advantage to 44-31 after three frames, benefited from balanced scoring as well as an impressive showing at the charity stripe. The Blue Devils connected on 21 of 24 attempts from the foul line with Christine Ehland leading the way with a 7-for-7 performance. She finished with 17 tallies.

McCaffrey led with 18 markers and Maura Wallace pitched in 15 points.

Lebo tuned up for its battle with USC by dispatching Chartiers Valley, 51-36, and Baldwin, 67-54.

Ehland and McCaffrey led the Lebo attack with 18 and 15 points against the Colts. Each tossed in 15 points against the Highlanders while Madeleine Collins and Wallace finished with 14 and 12 tallies respectively. For the Colts, Melissa Rickens and Lauren Herron finished with 15 and 12 points against Lebo.

Lebo travels to Canon-McMillan for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff Jan. 16 to start the second half of the season. The Lady Macs are coming off a 38-29 win against Peters Township. In the win, Danielle Parker pumped in 16 points. Madison Kerr finished with 11 for the Indians.

CV also dropped a 57-53 decision to Bethel Park in follow-up action. The Colts led BP by as many as eight points before the Hawks rallied in the final frame.

Four players from both teams scored in double digits: Herron (14), Rickens (11), Jenna DeVinny (10) and Jamie Neary (10) for the Colts; Sami Simpson (13), Mia Mattes (12) Shannon Conley (10) and Justina Mascaro (10) for the Hawks.

BP followed up its win with a positive decision against Trinity, 57-42, before falling to Lebo. Meanwhile the Lady Colts fell to Canon-McMillan, 45-38.

Harper Zimmer (12) and Kaitlin Chess (10) led the Lady Hawks against the Hillers. Herron had 17 points in a losing effort for the Colts. Olivia Larusso and Danielle Parker led CM with 17 and 13 markers.

Prior to that, the Lady Macs suffered their second straight, two-point loss, falling to West Mifflin, 52-50, in a non-section contest. Lorusso (18), Brittany Hutchinson (11) and Parker (10) led the way for CM.

In Section 4-AA action, Seton-La Salle beat Brentwood and Steel Valley.

Four Rebels finished in double digits against the Spartans, including Nicolete Newman (16), Morgan Henderson (16), Yacine Diop (14) and Cassiday Walsh (13). In the 64-32 triumph over Steel Valley, Mia Marzina led with 12.

Bishop Canevin defeated Fort Cherry, 52-33, while Chartiers-Houston also bested Brentwood, 54-38. Johnie Olkosky (17), Gina Vallercorsa (15) and Becca Turney (15) led the Lady Crusaders while Addy Knetzer (21) and Deja Wormsley (15) paced the Buccaneers.

The Lady Crusaders also edged Shaler, 44-43, in the Gateway Hoops Classic over the weekend.

Vallercorsa and Olkosky led with 11 and 10 tallies.

The Buccaneers also posted a 53-43 win against Washington. Knetzer pumped in 26 for the winners.

Despite 16 and 12 points from Maryah and Maryssa Agurs, Keystone Oaks dropped a 53-50 decision to Moon in Section 5-AAA action. Lexy Mercuri was also in double figures for the Golden Eagles, finishing with 11 points.

KO recovered to beat Montour, 61-29, in follow-up action. Maryssa Agurs (22), Mercuri (13) and Janice Mangold (10) led the way in double digits.

South Fayette also dispatched the Spartans, 66-38, as well as Trinity, 64-55, but succumbed to Peters Township, 48-47.

Against the Spartans, Lauren Crites pumped in 20 points and Carlie Kilgus followed with 19 markers. Mihayla Fetchet also pitched in 12 tallies.

Against PT, Fetchet and Crites supplied 17 and 14 points in the loss. Madison Kerr and Camerson Morgan paced the Indians with 18 and 14 markers.

Against the Hillers, Crites (18), Carlee Kilgus (15), Autumn Mozick (15) and Fetchet (12) finished in double figures.
