Asbury Heights in Mt. Lebanon, along with Family Hospice and Palliative Care, will host a presentation with nationally recognized dementia expert Teepa Snow on Jan. 16.

The program, “The ABCs of Dementia and Caregiving: The Essentials for Good Care,” will take place from 6-8 p.m. at Asbury’s social room.

The program is free. Reserve a space by calling 412-571-5167.

Adult Interest Center at Southminster Presbyterian Church, Mt. Lebanon, meets at 11 a.m. Fridays. Lunch is served at noon for $6.

Joe Diamond will sing and play guitar on Jan. 17.

Mt. Lebanon Public Library will sponsor the following activities for seniors:

• Genealogy Society, 1 p.m. Jan. 20. Get tips on researching family history.

• Book Chat, 10 a.m. Jan. 24.

Home Instead Senior Care will sponsor Alzheimer’s Care training workshops at 6 p.m. Jan. 28, Feb. 25 and March 25. Participants will learn to manage behaviors, encourage engagement and care for themselves while caring for a loved one.

UPMC’s Natasha Milijkovic will discuss why older adults are more prone to falls at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at Strabane Trails Village. The seminar is free and open to the public. Milijkovic will detail the changes brought on by aging, what kind of injuries happen and the risk factors for falling.

• At 2:30 p.m. Feb. 27, the River City Brass Band will perform at Strabane Trails Village. The event is free and open to the public.
