(PIX) Canonsburg native Paul Binotto stars in the musical comedy “Company,” the center of Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Masterpiece Season. Directed and choreographed by Ted Pappas with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth, “Company” runs Jan. 23-Feb. 23 at the O’Reilly Theater in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.

“Company” evokes the excitement of Manhattan where eligible bachelor, Robert, is surrounded by five married couples and three single women. Unable to make a commitment of his own, Robert supports his married friends and hears about the ups and downs of their relationships. Funny and honest, emotional yet unsentimental, “Company” has received six Tony Awards.

Ticket prices range from $29-$60. Students and those age 26 and younger are $15.75 with a valid ID.

The Heritage Players will hold auditions for Noel Coward’s comedy “Hay Fever” at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Seton Center on Pioneer Avenue, Brookline, and at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Schoolhouse Arts Center, Bethel Park.

The Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater will host the International Performing Arts for Youth Showcase Jan. 22-25 at venues throughout Pittsburgh’s Downtown Cultural District.

Artists from around the world will perform in 18 productions representing theater, musical theater, dance, circus and physical comedy, puppetry and installation.

On Feb. 1, Kente Arts Alliance continues its Africa Calling Concert Series with the Asase Yaa African-American Dance Theatre at the New Hazlett Theater on Pittsburgh’s North Side. The performance, which is the third segment of the series, will begin at 8 p.m.

On March 30, legendary South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela (“Grazing in the Grass”) returns to Pittsburgh with a celebratory 75th Birthday Tour. Masekela will perform at 7 p.m. at the New Hazlett Theater.

An innovator in the world music and jazz scenes, Masekela is also a renowned performer, composer and activist.

Winterfest will be held from noon-3 p.m. Feb. 22 in Clearview Common. Tickets are $15 to sample lots of chili from local restaurants. There will be a grudge cookoff between the Mt. Lebanon fire and police departments and also invited to participate in the cookoff this year is the Medical Rescue Team South. Tickets will be available soon.

The annual Taste of the Township will be held from 7-11 p.m. April 25 at Valley Brook Country Club. Tickets are $50 and are now available at the Peters Township Public Library’s circulation desk. Proceeds benefit the library.
