The ToonSeum, Pittsburgh’s first museum of cartoon art, announces an exhibit of original coloring book art from Western Publishing featuring iconic celebrities of the day such as Dinah Shore, Doris Day, Howdy Doody and Soupy Sales, as well as scenes from daily life.

The exhibit will open Jan. 24, followed by an evening of Kartoon Karaoke.

While the art is interesting, the ToonSeum decided to add a modern comedic twist by inviting some of Pittsburgh’s brightest and funniest comedic minds, including Jimmy Krenn, Rick Sebak, Terry Jones, Gab Bonesso, Rob Rogers, Aaron Kleiber, Mike Buzelli, Eric Heyl and the Arcade Comedy Theater, to write their own captions for the artwork. Guests also will be invited to add their own captions, and the best ones will be posted on the ToonSeum’s Facebook page.

The exhibit will close March 16.
