The Bridgeville Area Historical Society’s next program will be at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Chartiers Room of the Bridgeville Fire Department on Commercial Street. The program will be Linda Barnicott on Painter of Memories.

The Community Library of Castle Shannon is looking to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees. The board seat is open until filled.

A Valentine Dinner Dance will be held from 7 p.m.-midnight Feb. 8 at the Cecil No. 3 Volunteer Fire Department, Millers Run Road.

Advance tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the township building 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets at the door are $25 per person. Price includes an Italian buffet, tossed salad, bread and dessert. Beer and mixers will be provided and the event is BYOB.

Live music will be provided by Rubicon Crossing and tunes by DJ Pete.

Romp and Roll roller skating trip is 1:30-5 p.m. Feb. 22. The bus will leave the Green Tree Fire Department hall parking lot. The fee is $12 for residents and $15 for non-residents and includes admission to the Romp and Roll Roller Rink in Glenshaw, bus transportation to and from the rink, roller skate or roller blade rental, 2 1/2 hour skate, eight tokens for games in the arcade, pizza, drink and make-your-own sundae.

Because school was called off Jan. 7, the make-up day is set for June 13, the first day listed on the school calendar as a snow day.

The Peters Township Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the South West Communities Chamber of Commerce, presents Social Media Marketing Made Simple: Part One from 8-10 a.m. Jan. 30 at the Upper St. Clair Community and Recreation Center.

Presented by Cindy Neky, this information-packed seminar offers a basic review of the essential strategies and best practices a business or organization should understand to successfully get started with social media marketing. Ask questions, share experiences and network with peers. This is part-one in a three-part series. Cost for this event is $30 for members and $40 for non-members and includes a continental breakfast. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Those wishing to attend all three presentations may register for all three at this time, $75 for members and $100 for non-members, or register for each session individually.

“Email Marketing: Simple Strategies for Success: Part Two” will be held Feb. 27, and “Grow Your Business with Email & Social Media: Part Three” will be held March 27.

• Eight to 10 adult volunteers are needed from 5-9 p.m. for the Feb. 7 Princess Ball at the recreation center. The ball will be held from 6-8 p.m. Volunteering qualifies as service hours. Call the recreation center at 724-942-5000.

• The third annual Family Night is Feb. 4, where the township parks and recreation department is asking there be no homework, no sports practices and no school activities so families may spend time together and relax. The event is endorsed by Peters Township Character Counts Committee, Peters Township School District and the Peters Township Sports Association.

Kindergarten registration for children 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1 will begin at Baker Elementary Feb. 25; Eisenhower Feb. 26; and Streams Feb. 27. All registrations are from 9-11 a.m. and from noon-2 p.m. on the designated days.

A special evening session for all elementary schools is from 6-8 p.m. March 11 at the district’s central office. It is not necessary that children accompany the parent to registration.
