The WVU Marching Band has a longstanding tradition of attracting world-class twirlers to Morgantown, and the 2014 season will be no different. The position of WVU Feature Twirler is determined through a competitive two-part audition process. Alyssa Kinzel of Peters Township submitted a video audition and was selected as one of six finalists to perform at a live audition before a panel of highly qualified twirling judges. After weighing the auditions, Alyssa was chosen to join The WVU Pride as a feature twirler. Alyssa has also earned several twirling titles to accompany her new WVU Feature Twirler title. She is the 2014 College Miss Majorette of West Virginia and 2014 WV State Baton Twirling Solo and Strut Champion. She will represent the state of West Virginia at the College Miss Majorette of America competition held at Notre Dame University this July. Alyssa is majoring in both mathematics and education at WVU, as well as minoring in German. In addition to her baton twirling talents, she is on the fall 2013 and spring 2014 president’s lists for earning a 4.0 GPA during both semesters of her freshman year. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Fraternity and is also a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Alyssa’s academic record has recently earned her a partial three-year academic scholarship from the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences.
