BP German awards
The Bethel Park High School German Club presented special awards to two of the high school’s German students for outstanding work during the 2013-2014 school year.
Freshman Ryan Pfab, an Honors German II student, was presented with the Dietrich Award of Academic Excellence, which is awarded annually to the BPHS German student who has the top academic performance for the school year.
Junior Rachel Dodson, an AP German IV student, received a Special Certificate of Achievement as the most outstanding member of the BPHS chapter of the Delta Epsilon Phi German National Honor Society for the 2013-2014 school year. Rachel served as the 2013-2014 German Club vice president and also hosted a German exchange student.
The students are taught by BPHS German Teacher Christopher Tobias.
BP French students excel
Forty-one Bethel Park High School French students scored in the 50th percentile or higher on the National French Exam, better known as Le Grand Concours 2014, with eight students scoring in the top 20th percentile.
Scoring in the 20th percentile were French III Honors students Zachary Sedor-Schiffhauer and Carolyn Kerr; and French II students Kyle Coplan, Sarah Kauffman, Autumn Laird, Devin Stewart, Katelyn Turoski and Kevin Yost.
Scoring in the 50th percentile were French V AP students Victoria Jakicic and Stephanie Undereiner; French IV Honors students Hunter Cable, Kristen Kohler, Brendan Moorhead and Jelena Mrvos; French III Honors students Katherine Bronco, Meghan Coyle, Marie Dykstra, Anatasha George, Stephen Herrington, Morgan Hirsh, Amanda Hokaj, Samantha Jensen, Megan Kennedy, Joseph Kowalski, Samantha Mack, Macie McKitrick, Shannon Mueser, Alexis Taylor, Brandon Thorsen and Rachel Wanamaker; and French II students Natalie Brandt, Katherine Bustamante, Abigail Collavo, Angelina DeFelice, Connor Dembiczak, Abigail Hartzell, Maria Jay, Jessica Morgan, Rebecca Najdzinski, Sarah Shaheen and Alexandria Zallo.
The students are taught by Bethel Park High School French teachers Tracy McCoy and Rachael Smith.
