Sisters arrested in fight over extension cord
A fight between a woman and her two daughters over an extension cord led to one of the sisters threatening the others with a shotgun and cattle prod, state police said.
Police said they were called to the home at 41 Hamilton Acres Lane in Hopewell Township shortly before 4 p.m. June 24 after Debra Bloch, 49, and her mother, Charlotte Seddon, 78, got into an argument over the extension cord outside their homes on the property.
Police said Bloch was intoxicated and grabbed her mother’s arm, causing a cut that was bleeding. That’s when Bloch’s sister, Charlotte Binakonsky, 59, of Bethel Park, who was unhappy about the arguing, police said, allegedly pointed a .12-gauge shotgun outside an upstairs window down toward the women.
Binakonsky then came outside the house with a cattle prod and threatened her sister with it as state troopers arrived at the scene, police said. She relinquished the cattle prod and showed troopers where the shotgun was stored inside the house, police said.
Police charged Binakonsky with terroristic threats and simple assault. She was arraigned on the charges by District Judge James Ellis late Tuesday night and released on $10,000 cash bond.
Police said her sister, Bloch, was intoxicated at the scene and allegedly gave troopers a false name. Police charged her with disorderly conduct, harassment, simple assault, false identification to police and public drunkenness. Ellis also arraigned Bloch and she was sent to the Washington County jail on $10,000 cash bond.
Police said Seddon would not face any charges in the incident. Investigators did not say what prompted the argument over the extension cord.
