The fourth annual March Mad Dash, a 5K, 5-mile, 10-mile walk/run, will take place at 9 a.m. March 8 at the North Park Boat House.

Sponsored by St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Allison Park, net proceeds from the event will offset the expenses of teens volunteering to help those less fortunate. Middle school kids spend a week volunteering locally with the Pittsburgh Project, while high school youth will do work on a national level, usually helping recovery efforts after natural disasters.

There will be overall and age group awards for all three race categories, plus raffle prizes, a post-race party with hot soup, a disc jockey and wellness fair.

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh will hold its eighth annual fundraising event JCC Big Night: Game On March 8 at the JCC in Squirrel Hill. The event will include music, dancing and food.

Deadline to register teams is March 14 for The Washington Rotary Club’s 12th Annual Rotary Charity Trivia Contest, 7 p.m. March 21 at the Three Rivers Auction House in Washington. Rotary will donate $1,000 to the charity of the winning team’s choice, $500 to the second place team’s charity and $250 to the third place team’s charity.

The event consists of 50 questions segmented into 10 categories of five questions each. All teams play simultaneously. In between rounds, there will be door prize drawings and a raffle auction. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Teams must consist of a minimum of four people and a maximum of eight. Entry fee is $30 per team member and includes pizza, snacks and beverages. As space permits, spectators and cheerleaders are permitted to attend at $30 per person, and spectators and cheerleaders are not permitted to sit with teams during game-play.

To enter a team in the Charity Trivia Contest, send one check per team – with the team name noted in the memo – made payable to “Washington Rotary Club” in the amount of $30 per player and/or spectator to the Washington Rotary Club, c/o Kathy Sabol, 119 S. College St., Washington, PA 15301. Registration must include the email address and phone number for the team captain, team name and the name of the 501c3 non-profit charitable organization for which the team is playing. Life in Motion Chiropractic Center will sponsor a bowling fundraiser to benefit the City Mission in Washington. The event will begin at 6 p.m. March 18 at the Meadow Lanes on Racetrack Road. Tickets are $10. Two games of bowling, shoes, vendors, games, prizes and drink specials will be included.

Those who bring a bag of pantry items as a donation will receive $10 in free slots play to be used the same day. For details, call 412-398-6074.

The National Kidney Foundation will host its annual Kidney Gift of Life Gala March 22, 2014 at Heinz Field’s East Club Lounge. This year, the event will be celebrated in true Pittsburgh fashion with “an evening of Black and Gold.”

The evening will be emceed by local celebrities Mike Clark, news anchor and reporter at WTAE-TV, and Elena LaQuatra, former Miss PA Teen and MTV “Made” star. Ten-piece powerhouse band Protégé will rock the “All that Glitters is Gold” night for the second year. Guests can expect to be wowed by the VIP reception, cocktail and hors d’ouerves hour, sit down dinner, open bar, as well as live and silent auctions. Additional entertainment will be provided by ShutterBooth Pittsburgh, Almazing, and Live Event Painter, Kimberly Harvey.

Individual VIP reservations are $250 per person, individual reservations are $200, and young professional reservations are $175 per person. (Young Professionals include individuals under 35 years of age OR nephrology nurses, dieticians, social workers, dialysis technicians, fellows, residents, kidney patients, and transplant recipients.)

Peters Township High School track and field team will hold a Night at the Races fundraiser 6-10 p.m. April 5 at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Venetia. Tickets are $30 and include a buffet dinner, beer, wine and entertainment. For more information, call 724-941-4492.

Service members and military veterans will be admitted free to the first professional wrestling event held in the Cal U Convocation Center arena.

Renegade Wrestling Alliance, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and the Cal U Office of Veterans Affairs, will present “Salute to the Troops” at 7 p.m. April 19 at California University of Pennsylvania.

Ticket $6-$15, will be available at the Convocation Center Box Office from 2-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, beginning March 3. The box office opens at 10 a.m. on the day of the event, and tickets will be sold at the door. Veterans and service members who show military identification will be admitted free.

A portion of the net proceeds from the event will support the Post-9/11 Scholarship Fund at the Foundation for California University. Members of the U.S. armed services will be recognized between matches.
