1 min read

Behind the two-goal performance by Adam Alavi, Peters Township defeated Seneca Valley, 4-1, at the Southpointe Iceoplex and advanced to the semifinals in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League Class AAA playoffs.

The Indians will play March 12 at the RMU Island Sports Center for the right to compete in the Penguins Cup championship.

The Indians jumped to a 2-0 advantage on first-period goals by Jonathan Dagnal and Alavi.

After Josef Kittelberger and Evan Opeka dished off the puck, Dagnal scored the initial tally at 9:06. Fifty-three seconds before the close of the period, Alavi scored his first goal of the game. Sam Barnes earned an assist.

Though Andrew Gagnon narrowed the gap for the Raiders with a goal at the 14:19 mark in the second stanza, Alavi responded with his second tally less than a minute later. Dagnal and Carter Ekberg garnered the assists on the play.

Another minute later, at 16:54, Jacob Dachille closed out the second-stanza scoring. Gavin Rebholz and Opeka assisted.

During a penalty-ridden third period, neither team scored.

PT goalie Brian Baker stopped 25 of 26 shots by the Raiders. The Indians fired off 39 shots against Tanner Pfeffer.
