Next wave of terrorism is here
Several years ago, Catherine Herridge, Fox News national security correspondent, wrote a book titled “The Next Wave.”
Ms. Herridge warned that the next “Wave” of terrorism would include not only derranged Americans fighting against this country on foreign soil, but home-grown terrorists determined to do as much damage as possible here.
We continue to hear – ad nauseam – that the overwhelming majority of Muslims are peace-loving people. Be that as it may, they have certainly given new meaning to the words “silent majority” for making no efforts to denounce the extremists who are calling the shots in the name of their religion.
Ms. Herridge’s prescience is chilling, given the actions of the self-professed Muslim in Oklahoma who beheaded a woman at a place where he once worked. Apparently, one of the man’s grievences was taht he was unable to convert any of his fellow workers to Islam.
We are at war with ISIS and the only way we will win is to make an all-out effort to defeat them just as surely and decisively as we did the Japanese war lords and Nazi Germany.
It would be a tremendous help if we had leaders like Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan, but we don’t.
We can only hope – against all odds – that the incident in Oklahoma will serve as a wake up call for our current president.
