CANONSBURG
Car recovered: A car owned by Joshua Lemon of Muse that was stolen after it was left running outside Walgreens, Cavasina Drive, Oct. 19, was recovered undamaged Oct. 27 in Wilkinsburg with the keys in it, police said.
Fire: A mattress and utility pole caught fire about 10:40 a.m. Oct. 29 in front of 249 E. College St., police said. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
CASTLE SHANNON
Julianne Roman, 19, of 2911 Versailles Ave., McKeesport, and Franklin Kossack, 19, of 850 Killarney Drive, Castle Shannon, were arrested for hindering apprehension at 5:32 p.m. Oct. 24 for an incident on Willow Avenue, police said. A 17-year-old girl was picked up on an outstanding warrant and was charged with resisting arrest at the same time
DUI/drug violations: Stephen Smith, 48, of 3408 McRoberts Road, Castle Shannon, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and drug violations at 4:41 p.m. Oct. 25 on McRoberts Road, police said.
Burglary/theft: Joseph Merante, 26, of 1510 Blossom Hill Road, Castle Shannon, was charged with burglary and theft at 11:47 a.m. Oct. 27 on Blossom Hill Road, police said.
An attempted grandparent telephone scam on Martha Street was reported at 3 p.m. Oct. 24, police said.
Gravel was stolen from street construction on Arch Street, police said. The theft was reported at 6:02 p.m. Oct. 24.
Vacuum stolen: A vacuum was taken from Blossom Hill Road, police said. The theft was reported at 12:28 p.m. Oct. 26.
CECIL TOWNSHIP
Truck damaged: Bud Behling, 1961 Mayview Road, reported at 2 p.m. Oct. 27 that a box truck parked on his property was damaged between Oct. 25 and Oct. 26, township police said. Behling said he served ice cream from the truck during his daughter’s birthday party Oct. 25. Damage is estimated at $600 to $800.
Check stolen/forged: Mail was reported missing from the business mailbox of Vincent’s of Greentree restaurant, 673 Morganza Road, and included in the mail was a check for $245.23, township police said. Owner Adam Abbato reported the theft at 5:09 p.m. Oct. 29. Abbato told police the amount was changed to $2,245, the check was forged and cashed.
PETERS TOWNSHIP
Theft from vehicles: A resident of the 100 block of Carol Drive reported at 6:11 a.m. Oct. 30 that vehicles parked outside were entered, township police said. Removed from one unlocked vehicle were a wallet with two credit cards and $40, and $55 was stolen from another vehicle, police said. The resident reported his son’s vehicle was also entered and $55 in charge was removed.
Scam: A resident of the 200 block of Rock Run Road reported at 3:51 p.m. Oct. 28 that she was out $2,650 following a scam involving the sale of a treadmill on Craig’s List, township police said. The woman told police she was contacted by a potential buyer who agreed to the purchase price and sent a check with an additional $1,650 that the woman was to cash and send the remaining money to the buyer, which she did, police said. The woman was contacted by the bank after cashing the check that the account was bad.
Retail theft: Yue Lan Lin, 43, of 106 Cedar Hill Drive, was charged with retail theft after taking $160.38 in merchandise from T.J. Maxx, 3845 Washington Road, township police said. The arrest occurred at 10:33 a.m. Oct. 28. Police said Lin filled two bags in the store, paid for the merchandise and left before returning to fill another bag for which she did not pay before leaving the store. She was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and released on her own recognizance.
A McMurray woman escaped injury Oct. 29 when her vehicle left East McMurray Road, traveled along a guiderail and landed in a small creek, township police said. Brooke Krontinis, 29, of 182 Fireside Drive, told police she was driving east at 11:23 p.m. and just as she adjusted her glasses, a deer ran in front of her vehicle. The vehicle traveled along a guiderail and landed in a small creek in front of 242 East McMurray Road after shearing a gas meter, police said.
Election signs stolen: A representative of the Republican Party of Peters Township reported election signs were stolen in the 2800 block of Washington Road northbound and in the 3000 block of the southbound lanes, township police said. The theft of the signs, valued at $400, was reported at 10:16 a.m. Oct. 30.
Retail theft: Police are searching for a white man who entered the Rite Aid, 4185 Washington Road, at 11:28 a.m. Nov. 2 and fled after a customer yelled there was a shoplifter, township police said. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, is in his 20s and is about 5-feet, 8-inches tall with scruffy facial hair, police said. He was seen leaving the parking lot in a silver vehicle after activating the sensors at the front door of the store, police said. An inventory is being conducted to determine what is missing.
UPPER ST. CLAIR
Man arrested: David Mancuso, 18, of Washington Road, Upper St. Clair, was taken to the Allegheny County Jail after he allegedly confessed to stealing items during several vehicle break-ins, township police said. Mancuso was charged with theft and criminal conspiracy to commit theft at 4:40 a.m. Oct. 24. Police said Mancuso was being driven to his township residence by officers from Mt. Lebanon for similar vehicle break-ins when he told police of his involvement in the Upper St. Clair incidents. Several of the missing items were found on a hillside near Mancuso’s house, police said. Vehicle break-ins were reported on Locust Lane and Fort Couch Road. Township police said Mancuso will be charged by summons by Mt. Lebanon police.
