Peters Township residents concerned about tree roots on trail

By Terry Kish 1 min read

At Peters Township Council’s Nov. 10 meeting, resident Tim Curran presented council members with a petition requesting that something be done to correct tree root problems on Peters Lake Park Trail.

Curran said the severe root problem posed a tripping hazard, adding that he thought council would “be surprised at the number of people who trip.” Curran had 120 signatures on the petition, which he collected over three days on the trail.

Council member Robert Lewis said he saw someone trip on the trail, adding that the issue needed addressed. Council Chair James Berquist said the problem would be brought to the attention of the Parks and Recreation Board.

In other business, council adopted an update personnel manual, which has not had a major revision since 2007. Updates include items to meet current labor regulations, as well as addressing issues such as electronic media and internet policies.

Council approved a request by Ted Taylor III for a modification to install the road base after the subdivision ordinance deadline of Oct. 31 in the Fieldstone Plan.
