The PTTA is a nonprofit organization that provides an indoor site for tennis players of all ages. It features a large junior program along with many adult activities for all abilities.

Brandt Bowman is the organization’s director of tennis operations. He also serves as the high school varsity coach. The girls’ teams have won state titles in 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2012. He has coached many boys’ and girls’ champions in singles and doubles competition over the years, too. “Many of these players learned to play at the bubble at an early age,” he said.

Established in 1997, the PTTA boasts 350 members, 170-200 of them junior players. Approximately 30 of the youth players have gone on to play collegiately. Inside the new bubble, which features a clean inner lining, the 10 teaching pros offer clinics, private lessons, drills and cardio classes. Times are flexible.

As an introduction to the sport, the center offers adults, who are non-members, a free tennis lesson. Additionally, there are leagues for adults and a junior program, which begins its second session Jan. 21.

Over the holiday, tennis fans in McMurray can view the future as the PTTA hosts its annual Thanksgiving Tournament from Nov. 28-Dec. 1.
