Human life begins at conception
Oren Spiegler’s letter to the editor of the Almanac in the Oct. 1 issue included a quite vituperative rant against activists who were assembled to protest the destruction of unborn children in their mother’s womb.
I understand that some may be offended by graphic photos of unborn children being displayed by pro-life advocates. Some prefer just to pray silently for those who may choose to end the life of their child.
However, I wonder if the “cherished prayer book” that Mr. Speigler referenced included any words of love, mercy or tolerance. If so, he may have sought to understand that those who support life do act on their religious beliefs as well as proven science that human life begins at the moment of conception. They are concerned that since over 55 million innocent children have been lost in the holocaust of abortion, perhaps people need to see the reality of the act which reveals the violence that is the “choice” of abortion.
Each of us reading these words were once living and growing in the presumed safety of our mother’s womb.
Since Mr. Spiegler considers an attempt to protect these most vulnerable of children to be “the perpetration of evil,” I will pray for his enlightenment.
