CANONSBURG
GPS stolen: Angela Miklavic, Lucia Drive, told police Oct. 6 her global positioning system was stolen from her vehicle.
Items stolen: Jamie Michalka of Canonsburg told police copper pipe was stolen from the basement of her mother’s home in the 500 block of Duquesne Avenue. A turkey and 50 dozen wedding cookies were stolen from a freezer. The thefts were discovered Oct. 7.
Suspicious activity: Police received a call about an abandoned house in the 100 block of Murdock Street being entered at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 8. The front door was kicked in and police found clothes and various items inside. Police are working to determine the owner of the property.
CASTLE SHANNON
A pedestrian who was struck at 9:10 p.m. Oct. 8 on Greenridge Road at Vermont Avenue was not injured, police said.
Melissa Brown, 26, of 2034 Swallow Hill Road, Green Tree, was charged with drug violations for an incident on Willow Avenue at 4:47 p.m. Oct. 5, police said.
Michelle Camp, 36, of 852 Killarney Drive, Castle Shannon, was sent a summons for terroristic threats for an incident at 11:20 p.m. Oct. 7, police said.
Door locks were damaged on a business in the 4100 block of Library Road, before 2:15 p.m. Oct. 8, police said.
Fraud: Identity theft was reported on Trance Drive at 10 a.m. Oct. 7, police said.
CECIL TOWNSHIP
A 40-inch flat screen television and four rifles were stolen when a house on Morganza Road was entered between 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 8, township police said. David Keblish, 484 Morganza Road, said when he returned home he found glass in the back door was broken and the house was entered. Missing are a Chinese AK-47, a Canadian military rifle, a Ruger stainless steel .22-caliber rifle, and a Remington .22 bolt action rifle, police said. No value was given for the weapons, police said. The television is valued between $600 to $700.
A house for sale on Cumer Road was entered and copper piping was stolen before 12:27 p.m. Oct. 10, township police said. Owner Marilyn Lankemeyer, 237 Cumer Road, told police the house sustained water damage. This is the fourth similar report in the past few weeks of copper pipe being stolen from vacant houses, police said.
MT. LEBANON
Hit and run: A vehicle parked on West Liberty Avenue was struck with the other driver leaving the scene, police said. The accident was reported at 1:50 p.m. Oct. 4.
Pedestrian struck: A woman was struck while crossing Washington Road near Cedar Boulevard at 10:20 p.m. Oct. 4, police said. The driver left the scene before police arrived. The victim suffered two broken femurs and a head injury. Police charged Anthony Flores, 49, of 2114 Vodeli St., Pittsburgh, Oct. 10 with a felony count of accidents involving death or personal injury, a misdemeanor count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and a summary of immediate notice of accident to police department. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Flores and he turned himself in to Allegheny County Sheriffs Oct. 10.
Burglary: A residence on Oxford Boulevard was forcibly entered and money and a computer were taken before 2:54 p.m. Oct. 1, police said.
Property damaged: A building sign on Washington Road was struck by a vehicle before 8:50 a.m. Oct. 3, police said.
Fraud: Unauthorized charges were made to a credit card owned by a resident of Mayfair Drive that was reported at 12:50 p.m. Sept. 29; unauthorized charges were made to a credit account of a resident of Elatan Drive before 8:27 p.m. Oct. 2; and unauthorized charges were made on a credit card account on Terrace Drive before being reported at 11 a.m. Oct. 4, police said.
Saxophone taken: A saxophone was taken from Castle Shannon Boulevard before midnight Oct. 3, police said.
PETERS TOWNSHIP
Retail theft: Two men were charged after allegedly taking items from Miller Ace Hardware, 4275 Washington Road, township police said. Police were called at 4:16 p.m. Oct. 6 for the report of suspicious people in a car. After given consent to search the vehicle, police found tools under the driver’s seat valued at more than $76, that came from the hardware store. Also found were empty heroin bags, syringes and drug paraphernalia, police said. Under a rear passenger seat, police found five brass fittings for water or gas lines that appeared to have been stolen from Home Depot in Bethel Park. Bethel Park police were notified. Benjamin Farkas, 19, of 123 Elm Grove Drive, McMurray, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, retail theft and a drug violation. Steven Sopko, 27, of 204 Center Church Road, McMurray, was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Janet Keyser, 76, of 634 Venetia Road, Venetia, was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 8:12 p.m. Oct. 7, township police said. Police received a report of a driver traveling in the wrong lane at 8:11 p.m. and a minute later received a report of an accident 200 feet west of Valley Brook Road on Bebout Road. The driver of a pickup truck, Bradley J. Carpenter, 49, of 491 Sylvania Drive, McMurray, told police he saw Keyser’s car approaching him in the wrong lane and even though he stopped the truck, honked the horn and flashed the lights, the car struck his truck head-on. Carpenter was not injured. Keyser told police she made a turn too wide. She was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Theft: Jewelry was taken from a residence in the 200 block of McCombs Road and the nanny will be charged with theft, township police said. Alicia M. Thomas, 614 Fourth St., Monongahela, admitted to the owner, who is also a relative, that she took the jewelry, and a summons will be sent by mail, police said. Monongahela Police confirmed the jewelry was pawned at a shop in the city. No value was listed for the jewelry. The theft was reported at 12:14 p.m. Friday.
