Pati Petite Bakery changes yet stays the same
Pati Petite Cookies Inc. has been a staple in South Fayette Township with the yellow smiley face on the adjacent silo along Mayview Road since 1964. And even though the family-owned bakery was sold almost a year ago to the DeLallo family, not much is expected to change.
The small retail space in the bakery at 1785 Mayview Road, will soon see the addition of a few new cookies, said James H.H. Reik, vice president bakery division for DeLallo. He was quick to reassure the favorites, like honey boys, will remain.
On a crisp October afternoon, the Pati Petite sign remained on the outside of the brick building and a DeLallo tractor trailer was parked to the south in front of a van marked Three Saints Bakery.
The bakery products will be marketed under all three names – DeLallo, Three Saints Bakery and Pati Petite Cookies, Reik said.
To meet the expected increased demand, Reik said an additional work shift was recently added.
When the original owner and founder of Pati Petite Bakery, William Graham, retired several years ago, his three sons took over the business until October 2013, when the company was sold to Delallo.
William Graham died Feb. 26, 2012, at the age of 84. His wife Patricia Graham died at 77 in December 2004. The couple once owned Graham’s Bakery in the 1940s before Pati Petite was founded.
While cookies and sweets are sold at the bakery location in South Fayette, Reik said the product is available in super markets across the country and in Canada.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of Pati Petite, which meshes well with the new ownership.
“DeLallo’s is more than 60 years old and this will be a great partnership as both (companies) are family-owned and are Pittsburgh based,” Reik said.
