BETHEL PARK
Pedestrian accident: A 14-year-boy was not injured when he was struck by a vehicle at about 3 p.m. Oct. 14, police said. The juvenile was walking near the intersection of South Park Road and Park Avenue when he looked to cross the road and was struck by a passing vehicle. He was checked by emergency personnel at the scene.
CANONSBURG
One-vehicle accident: A driver crashed into a railing in front of Northwest Savings Bank, 148 W. Pike St., while she was trying to park about 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11, but no damage was done to the building, police said. Neither the driver, Carol Backner, 52, of North Strabane Township, nor her passenger, William Backner, 50, was injured.
Money stolen: A manager of Pizza Hut, 113 Cavasina Drive, told police Oct. 15 that $633 was stolen from a night deposit for the restaurant.
Teen charged: A 15-year-old Canonsburg girl will be charged by police with criminal mischief for allegedly kicking in a door, breaking the frame, at 605 S. Central Ave., on Oct. 16.
Pipes cut: Police said copper pipes were cut in the basement of a home at 109 Boyle Ave. Police discovered the house had been entered after getting a report of a man who was seen putting an item in the truck of a red Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix, police said.
CASTLE SHANNON
Burglary: Police are investigating a daylight burglary on McRoberts Road that was reported at 5 p.m. Oct. 14. The residence was forcibly entered and cash was taken, police said.
Tools were stolen from a rear porch on Home Avenue before 12:04 p.m. Oct. 14, police said.
DUI/drugs: Sean Hindman, 28, of 5252 Fieldcrest Drive, Pittsburgh, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and with drug violations at 1:47 p.m. Oct. 12 in the 3200 block of Library Road.
CECIL TOWNSHIP
Wires cut: Robert O’Rourke, 6 Clearview Drive, Canonsburg, reported that the wires for Internet and telephone were cut from the side of his house, township police said. The criminal mischief was reported at 8:34 a.m. Oct. 13, and the wires appeared to be cut with a knife, police said.
Picked up on warrant: Mary Ploskina-Votedian, no age given, of 1335 Lexington Drive, Lawrence, was placed in the Washington County jail on a warrant for failing to pay child support, township police said. She was located in a vehicle in front of 425 Georgetown Road, Lawrence, at 10:25 a.m. Oct. 15, police said.
PETERS TOWNSHIP
Lead removed from drywall: Lead, one sixteenth-inch thick, on the back of a piece of drywall left outside the rear entrance of the Washington Health System office, 4198 Washington Road, was removed before 12:18 p.m. Oct. 13, township police said. The drywall with the lead backing was left under a tarp Oct. 10 and was valued at $300, police said. The drywall is owned by Command Contracting Construction, 1061 Waterdam Plaza Drive.
Probation violation: Police were called to a residence on Locust Drive at 8:55 p.m. Oct. 14 when syringes were seen inside a car, township police said. The owner gave consent to search and police removed two syringes containing suspected heroin. Police determined the owner, Megan A. Kress, 31, of Locust Drive, was wanted on a probation violation in Washington County and she was taken to the Washington County jail on a detainer.
Charges pending: Pending results of a blood test, police are expected to file charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs involving a one-vehicle accident at 3:32 p.m. Oct. 15 on Valley Brook Road. When officers arrived in the 200 block of Valley Brook Road, just east of Washington Road, they discovered Michelle Young, 47, of 113 Brookdale Circle, in her car, which was still running, with the passenger side resting next to the guiderail. The car was damaged on all four sides, the tires were blown and one front tire was missing with the car resting on its rim, police said. Officers said Young appeared to be confused and could not answer simple questions. No field sobriety tests were administered as police said physical tests would have been too dangerous and difficult for Young to perform. She was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for a blood test and, police said, Young was admitted. She was released Oct. 16, police said. The investigation continues, including reports Young was involved in an earlier accident in Green Tree when her car struck a bank building.
Nanny charged: Alicia Marie Thomas, 34, 614 Fourth St., Monongahela, was placed in the Washington County jail Oct. 16 on $50,000 bond on a charge of theft, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis. Thomas is accused of stealing about $37,430 in various items from her cousin’s house at 217 McCombs Road between May 1 and Oct. 10, police said. She was working in the residence as a nanny. Thomas admitted to taking the items, then pawning them in Monongahela.
Equipment stolen: Tri-River Companies, Pittsburgh, reported at 5:27 p.m. Oct. 17 that equipment in the 200 block of Village Green Drive was stolen, township police said. Missing were a laser device valued at $2,000 and a ceiling fan valued at $50. Police returned to the construction site Saturday and took a report of additional thefts. The report did not indicate the owner of a $300 shower head, a multi-tool valued at $120, a $400 nail gun, a $100 saw, a compressor with no value listed, a $150 router, a $300 power saw, a $300 jam saw and an $80 jig saw, police said.
SCOTT TOWNSHIP
Television stolen: A 46-inch Samsung television was stolen from a resident while the owner was incarcerated. No forced entry was found, police said. The theft and burglary were reported at noon Sept. 22.
Slot machine stolen: A gambling slot machine was stolen from a garage in the 100 block of Boroview Street and removed before 10 a.m. Oct. 1, police said. The machine is valued at $500.
Checks stolen and cashed: Stephen Kaupinis, 24, of 1317 Royal Oak Drive, Pittsburgh, was arrested and charged with theft, forgery and access device fraud after allegedly stealing checks from family members and cashing them, police said. The incident was reported at 11 p.m. Oct. 2.
Woman charged: Melissa Fultz, 25, of 820 Capitol Drive, Carnegie, was charged with disorderly conduct after she appeared at district court at 1:25 p.m. Oct. 2 for a hearing and was taken into custody for outstanding warrants, police said. Fultz possessed a small amount of suspected marijuana when she was searched, police said.
Retail theft: Ryan Matthew Russell, 30, of 927 Woodbourne Ave., Pittsburgh, was apprehended by Bridgeville police for retail theft and during the incident, police learned he committed several retail thefts, including three iPhone cases from Marshall’s department store. Russell had several outstanding warrants and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail, police said. The incident occurred at 6:20 p.m. Oct. 2.
A residence on Forsythe Road was forcibly entered and items were removed. The burglary was reported at 5:55 p.m. Oct. 3, police said.
Purse stolen: A purse was stolen from a vehicle parked at the Greentree Shops before 3:32 p.m. Oct. 5, police said.
Drugs: Daniel L. Betz II, 31, of 523 Wenzell Ave., Pittsburgh, was cited for disorderly conduct for smoking marijuana while walking along Roessler Road at 5:58 p.m. Oct. 8, police said.
A woman told police her son was released from jail Oct. 10 and within hours stole her computer and pawned it. The theft was reported at noon Oct. 10.
Pistol stolen: A pistol was reported stolen from an apartment between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Oct. 10, police said.
