Homestead at Twilight

For one Sunday only, Nov. 2, the Oliver Miller Homestead in South Park will be open from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Experience the Homestead at dusk with candles and lanterns lighting the way.

In November of 1794, the Miller family was deeply involved in the events of the Whiskey Rebellion. On self-guided tours, visitors will see gentlemen discussing politics around the fire while the women practice stitchery and knitting in the Log House while sharing neighborhood news.

Spinning, weaving and cooking will be demonstrated at the Stone House. Guests will learn to start a fire with a striker and flint and how to make balls for shooting. The forge will be open and working, as will the barn with displays relative to the Whiskey Rebellion. Purchase warm cider and cookies while docents in 18th century dress discuss the times and answer questions.
