(PIX) At Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, Jeremy S. Bruns has been hired as new organist and assistant director of Music & Worship Life, beginning the first weekend of September. As a church musician, Bruns has held positions across the northeast and also in Texas. A featured performer on the nationally syndicated radio program “Pipedreams,” he has accompanied the Saint Thomas Choir for regular broadcasts on BBC Radio and recordings on the Pro Organo label. He has performed numerous recitals, with engagements including St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey in London, as well as Canterbury Cathedral, Washington National Cathedral and other venues in the United States, Toronto and England. A solo recording on the Pro Organo label entitled French Éclat at Saint Thomas Church is available for purchase.

• Kids Connect Sunday School Fall Kick Off, 6 p.m. Sept. 6 and 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sept. 7 for preschool and elementary children. New classes and new small groups will be formed this day, and getting-to-know-you games will be played. Kids Connect continues each weekend during all worship hours.

• The Christ U. M. Church Women will sponsor a program on Human Trafficking at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 11 with guest speaker Sister Jeanette Bussen, coordinator of Justice and Peace Ministry for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, Pa. • Sunday school Open House, 10-10:45 a.m. Sept. 14. Children will learn where their classes will be held and meet their teachers. Sunday school classes for children age 3 through 12th grade as well as adult classes will be held 10-10:45 a.m. beginning Sept. 21. No preregistration for Sunday School is needed.

• The Gathering Place, 1 p.m. the second Sunday of each month for children on the autism spectrum or with other special needs and their families. The purpose of The Gathering Place is to provide a comfortable place to gather together for sharing and worship.

At St. Bernard Parish, Mt. Lebanon, an 11-week Bible study on the Book of Revelation will be held 7-9 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 8-Nov. 24 in Clairvaux Hall. Each class includes small group discussion and an hour-long video. No past Bible study is required. DVD host Jeff Cavins explores Revelation to demonstrate how the Kingdom established by Christ in His Church is intimately connected with the Kingdom of Heaven, especially through the celebration of the Mass. • Stephen Ministry Introductory Workshop will take place on Sept. 13 for area congregations seeking to learn more about implementing this transformative lay Christian caregiving ministry in their churches. Sponsored by Stephen Ministries, the St. Louis-based Christian training organization works to equip lay people to minister in one-to-one Christian caring to people in need, the half-day, three-session workshop is designed to help churches catch a vision for strengthening their caring ministry. Attendees will also participate in a sample Stephen Ministry training module. Cost of the workshop is $15/person or $50/group of four or more from the same congregation. Meetings will conclude Dec. 11. DivorceCare features a video every week prior to discussion with nationally recognized experts on divorce and recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “Facing My Anger,” “Facing My Loneliness,” “Depression,” “New Relationships,” “KidCare” and “Forgiveness.” Cost of $20 includes a workbook.
